Dear Leonard
Happy Birthday - may it be a truly enjoyable time for you and thank you for everything you represent in our lives!
As we have been doing for some while now, we will also be celebrating your birthday and paying homage to your work on Saturday week, at our little annual event, here 'down under'.
Cheers

Dear Leonard,
Happy Birthday!
I always think of you, and with you.
Here is what another poet once wrote. Somehow, I believe that these lines tell exactly what you mean to so many people:
"O, rejoice
Beyond a common joy, and set it down
With gold on lasting pillars: In one voyage
Did Claribel her husband find at Tunis,
And Ferdinand, her brother, found a wife
Where he himself was lost, Prospero his dukedom
In a poor isle, and all of us ourselves
When no man was his own."

Hello, Leonard.
Have a great birthday, don't worry about a thing. Experience only makes us grow, and is something to be glad of - even if only later!
Laugh, love, be happy.
Since I have come to know your music and writing - over a year, now - you have given me great pleasure; my thanks and appreciation.
From one of your newer - but 'almost young' at 68 - fans:
Teresa Kasafir, United Kingdom

Cheerful Birthday Leonard Cohen.
You are a global treasure may the coming year serve you well. All my best to you, your family and all your friends.
Your work opens my heart, for that I am eternally grateful, it is so easy to surround it with a cocoon, much healthier to take a look at it and embrace it.
May you always be surrounded and feel all the love and happiness coming your way from all your fans.

Dear Leonard,
You've gained another year!
Your poetry and songs have a significant influence on the current crop of singer/songwriters in Scotland. This is underpinned by an enormous affection for you, the man, Leonard Cohen.
I can't speak for Scotland; only my family, friends, workmates and fellow writers, but you'd better sit up straight and listen to what that lot have to say:
1. Happy 71st Birthday, Leonard!!!
2. If you perform again in Scotland, the venue(s) will be filled, guaranteed!
Semper,
Andrew McGeever.

What can I say? It's your natal day...
And Happy Birthday to the One who was never born. May you delight in the One and enjoy the seventy as well.
