Hellow people,
Nine months ago we were receving the plesant news that my girlfriend was expecting our first baby.
The child was expected on the 24 th off september 2005.
The 8 th off september at 5.30 pm we had an apointmen with the doctor for a check up. After some examens the doctor told us that he had some bad news: the unborn child had unfortunedly died without a reason.
After that we went true real hell.
On the 9 th of september at 6 am our first baby was born with the help of some medications.
Its is a boy and we named him Simon.
Never in my hole life have i cried so much.
My girlfriend and i are real fans of Cohen, we love his music that brings joy and peace in our dailly lifes.
Because we are constantly playing cohens music at home and because that music means so much to us we have decided to chose one of his songs for the funeral ceremony of are baby.
We've tought about the song "If it be your will" but we don't know if it's a lyric that fits on a funeral.
What do you people think about this idea?
Do you can give us are titles of song by cohen who would fit in this time of sadness.
Greetings
Kevin

Condolences
Kevin, I was so sorry to read the sad news of the loss of your little son. This must be terribly hard for you and his mother to bear.
I think the two of you should choose whatever Cohen songs have the most meaning for you in these dark hours. It is a very personal decision.
Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Posted this in your other thread, but in case you don't see it:
That is such sad news, ZaGeP. I myself lost a baby by miscarriage, so I have some idea how you are feeling, even though my baby was much younger than your little son. It is devastating, and my heart goes out to you both.
As for Cohen music for the funeral... well, it's not easy, because none of them were meant for funerals; but I would suggest The Guests, because it is about souls entering the world and finding their place in it and being welcomed by god...
I am not a believer, but the song seems the most appropriate for the occasion.
Just thought of another one: Love Itself.
(((((HUGS))))) to you both.

cohen songs for a funeral
so sorry to hear your tragic news. i can identify to a degree with what you may be feeling because 16 years ago our baby daughter fiona was stillborn and five years prior to that ben, our third child died suddenly and unexpectedly in his cot. thankfully we now have four beautiful children ranging from 26 years to 13 years old. leonard gave us so much comfort through those dark times through his words and music . you may be familiar with the lyrics in 'bird on a wire' - 'like a baby stillborn...'
if you or your partner wishes to email me you are welcome to do so. go well, peace be with you both, phil (phillippa)
