I wasn't aware that there were any "white Christians" on this forum. To whom on this forum are you addressing your remarks? I especially liked the sentence:Please, white Christians, do NOT start on the Biloxi-gambling, New Orleans-'lifestyle,' God's punishment crap. I saw something, somewhere, here that appeared that this may be occurring. For one thing, Christianity is and always has been very strong in the Black communities.

Yes, the 'wiggle' room was very intentional. I'm not sure where I saw it, and I'm not sure if that's where it was going with that issue. However, past disasters tend to bring out that element in Christians. AIDS, for instance. When it passed over into the heterosexual community, into Africa, et al, it became more problematical to maintain that stance. However, stay tuned to the famed Christian TV hosts, and you may be hearing this, yet ~ if it's not already happening. I wasn't pointing to anyone on the Fourm, but something that someone quoted from elsewhere. Yes, however; we do have some white, Christian people on this Forum.

Yes, you are very right, YdF ~ I AM bringing up color a lot ~ because color IS an ISSUE here. Get it!?!
Yes, it would most likely be the white, Christian community doing the pouncing [those from outside the areas affected, of course]. The Black Christians in this country have suffered more than the White Christians, so that kind of rhetoric does tend to be heard more coming from the ultra-conservative, White congregations. That's the way it is.
However, before I continue more on this vein, I need to be certain that this is, in fact, occurring. Patterns of behaviour can lead to erroneous predictions. There's already enough going on. I'll pounce further if I get confirmation that this has or is occurring. Right now, I am feeling rage ~ and there's already too much that's unjustified happening; just the thought of one more thing was inflammatory with me.

Congress is working on $10.5 billion relief fund. Bush is in Mississippi, the help is on it's way. I wish people would not spread panic posting those blame articles. The situation is changing by minute, all those politically motivated posts are so far removed from the actual occurrence-nature and people.

Some people chose to be on starvation diet in order to loose weight, especially if one is over $250 LB, or-to do some hard physical work.I agree with Jurica totally. The media over here are showing pictures of people 90% black 10% "poor" white. Yes a lot of them look overweight but overweight doesn't always equate nourished sometimes the reverse is true if you are poor you eat cheap stuff which is often fattening but not nutrious.

Mat Frei is a reporter of some standing. He is well respected for providing objective and dispassionate reports from all over the world.
He has just reported from the devastated area and said that of all the crises he has covered in the third world, this is the worst, for the abysmal response and absolute mayhem, that he has ever seen. He said that it is far worse than anything he has covered in the past, in the way that nothing has yet been done at the speed and urgency that he has seen in much poorer countries. His voice was shaking as he spoke.
My heart goes out to the weak and the dying who are at the mercy of gangs of thugs and incompetent law enforcement authorities. I have listened to reporters describing police cars speeding through town, with guns pointing out of their windows as they go in search of criminals, but driving past hordes of sick, dying, destitute refugees.
The area is a disaster zone. It has been visited by a savage act of Nature. It is comparable with similar disasters such as the Tsunami. It is as bad as that. But U.S War veterans with diabetes can't even be taken 10 miles to get urgent life saving medical help, by a country that can wage war half a world away.
For once, the american people can see for themselves how utterly useless their leaders are at answering the call to help innocent men, women and children.
We are ALL watching this unfold on American Television.
The american people will emerge from this with dignity and perseverence, despite the 'efforts' of their political poseurs.
Paula, I fully understand your stance with regard to looters scavanging for food and water etc. Looting is a crime.
Doing nothing for 4/5 days to help its own citizens is an even greater crime perpetrated by authorities who are paid to do what they have failed to do.
I echo the words of one of the Mayors speaking on his local Radio, "I want people to get off their ass and start saving lives."
There is a complete breakdown of law and order. Helicopters drop food and water that, fit, strong, youths, pounce on, which never reaches the elderly, weak and sick. What a bloody mess!
I have to wonder what the Rifle Association of America has to say about the wholescale looting of guns from deserted shops like Walmart, followed by gangs of armed and uncontrollable men frightening off members of the National Guard. What a bloody mess!
People need food, water, medicine. If they have to grab it for themselves, then so be it.
Gangs of armed thugs have filled the vaccuum, which the government has failed to fill, miserably.
Bush goes on a tour of the devastation and I can only guess at the cost and organisation involved in managing that sightseeing trip. Surely the money and manpower would be better used in helping those who desperately need it?
It is clear that there is as yet, no joined up thinking between the various local and central government administrations. One of your own Mayors has said so. And if he says it, who am I to disagree.
As for introducing a political argument in this thread about 'commies' or non commies, the fact remains that, those people who are being paid to sort this mess out, (whatever their political viewpoint) have failed disasterously. What a bloody mess!
