New to the group hello

Post by Tri-me »

I have been a big fan since grade 11 in 1982. I was taking guitar in high school my teacher busted a string on my bass guitar attempting to tune it. He felt very bad. Being the brat that I was (am) I told him that it would be ok if he gave me his Songs From a Room album. I loved and still love The Story of Issac and the entire album.

Recently I met a cute 3 week old Himalayan kitten. I won't go into details, but I bonded witht this kitten an named him Leonardcohen. It was an inspiration to name him this. It is hard not to smile when I think of my new kitty that will be living with me, in two weeks, and I get to say, "Come here Leonardcohen."

I live in Canada an practice/study Buddhism at my local Shambhala Center. My Buddhist name is Tri-me which is pronounced "tree may" not "try me" even though try me is more fun.

hello & welcome to the group. Hope your name doesn't cause too much confusion. I often get mistaken for a middle eastern delicacy so I have some sympathy. ~ Peace 'n' love ~ J

Hi Tri-me ~

Great story :D ! Cool teacher to give up his album. The only Leonard-like thing to do under the circumstances, yes? He knew where he could get another, much easier than you could, and was no doubt more than happy to spread the love :D 8) .

I love your [beautiful, no doubt!] Himalayan kitten's new name ~ and your reasoning behind it  .

What does your own, Buddhist name mean? On the correct pronunciation of it, of course ~ I could wing it on the incorrect  .

Welcome to the Forum :D !

Speaking of 'wing it on the incorrect', I tried in many ways to convey my delight in Jonnie's last name, and how many times I've enjoyed this delicacy. However, everything sounded wrong. Those not familar with falafels might have thought I was more familiar with Jonnie than I actually am.

Linda.

Welcome to the Forum. I forgot the first time. Sorry.

Hello and welcome Tri-me, I would also like to know the meaning of "tri-me".

And also what about the guitar now? Are you still playing and how?

Regarding the rest of your post, the same thing happened to me (it seems that they are tough for the heart these cats of that kind), and right now a Himalayen of 8 years is running everywhere around the place here (ah! she is calmed down, now - it is the wind-to-come. I explain : her nickname is Miss Météo, I know the weather by her behaviour better than by satellite).

And of course, I have been stopped in my tracks by Leonard Cohen also! :D

 Linda ~ You trip me out  .

Good point in Tri-me's playing guitar. I just somehow presumed that had never ended, but it could have; and even if not, the styles may have come and gone, or just stayed.

Tri-me again

Post by Tri-me »

Thanks for all the replies, nice to be here wonder why I have not arrived at this site earlier.

Tri-me Sheldrön is my Tibetan name given by our center's (Shambhala)senior teacher in October last year when I took refuge vows. It means Immaculate Crystal Torch. All Tibetan names are very flattering.

I gave up the guitar, I took the class to meet guys and was not prepared to do all the parctice. Making short films is my chosen art form. I made a short in 1994 and hope to shoot a second one this summer, waiting for funding. This is a hobby done through the New Brunswick Filmmakers Co-op. I have been a registered massage therapist since 1996.

Leonard made it twice to the list of the top 50 Canadian songs. The list was put together by the CBC radio through public voting. Suzanne was #8 and Tower of Song was #42 http://www.cbc.ca/50tracks/essentialcanadianmusic.html

Leonard is everywhere, I learned this Monday CBC radio host Paul Kennedy is launching a campaign to get Leonard Cohen nominated for a Nobel Prize. I had named my cat before this made the radio, that same evening my Meditation Instructor told me he wanted to give me a video Leonard narrated. Strange days.

I have retrieved my Leonard Cohen poetry books the hope chest where I have them stored for safety. I love him amazing I just have to see a picture of him and I am captivated, his words melt, pierce, absorb and spin my heart. I know I am speaking to the choir.

Ah! :D Immaculate Crystal Torch! What a stunning nickname :D Is that good The Tibetan Book of Deads?

Hum... the guitar... how pretty the way you entered Cohen's world, a broken string, and the ligth gets in!

I have to run right now! I'll like to now more about this film thing, later. If you don't mind.

Cracks inside everything....

Post by Tri-me »

A crack in everything that's how the light gets in.....
Gaud getting back to Leonard Cohen and his work is like facing yourself during meditation. In September of last year I fell off my horse while riding. As the horse went over me, I remember seeing his hind legs, he stepped on my chest and fractured my sternum. I also had a compression fracture at my L-2 vertebrae.

The accident was the best thing. I had a chance to see the people in my life in a new light. The love and true genuine concern that came from my friends and family was overwhelming. I also had the chance to see how bad the man in my life was. He's gone gone gone. I've never been happier. Plus I have had a swift recovery.

A crack in everything that's how the light gets in.....Leonard is a mystic

I was reading The Energy of Slaves last night. He can move me to tears and then make me laugh.
I read
Portrait of Girl
which makes me cry because he is so beautiful to write that
then I read:
Come down to my room
I was thinking about you
and I made pass at myself shows his wit

I think I will be in the clouds for a while and after I get Leonardcohen home, especially if I keep reading his work. I bought some CD's yesterday. Very happy to see Songs From a Room is on CD now. The music has been trapped on vinyl for years.

I had a nice visit with Leonardcohen this afternoon and he was snuggly and sweet, learnt how to give him a bath.

I'm sorry to read about you having had an accident. But I understand what you meant, the light that came through the hardships.

I should have taking courses also, I had the feeling I was trying to give a bath to a nest of countless tiny screaming snakes, the first time I get the pussy home and wanted to be sure she was really clean before let her go loose.

I liked that image, too, Tchocolatl :D ~ as well as yours about "a bath to a nest of countless tiny screaming snakes." That holds true regardless of the breed of cat, and was for all the ones I've tried to bathe, except Oliver, the one over whom I sought counseling. He just sat motionless and looked at me, turned when I needed him to, sat down, stood up, whatever I wanted, from the shampooing through the rinse. He was unbelievable. Like a small person.

Tri-me ~ what an amazing experience and memory. I'm delighted that you came through it so well. Yes, those times of absolute vulnerability and helplessness really sort the people in your life.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Introducing...........

Post by chappelle »

........me

Stumbled across TLCF a few weeks ago and have been meaning to join the forum since then.

I was first introduced to LC by a friend at Uni in 1987 and was smitten there and then. Many long caffeine/ nicotine fuelled nights spent listening to the great man when I should have been writing essays. In fact LC is probably the reason why I bagged a 2:2 instead of a first! :) That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Anyway it was worth it.

Went to the Royal Albert Hall with said friend to catch the
I'm Your Man tour and have been a devotee from then on though I admit to being Len free for the last few years.
Now I'm rediscovering the music and the man all over again and catching up on his newer material.

Glad to know you all and looking forward to contributing to the forum.

Peace
Chappelle
