Improvisation with "The Critic"
Improvisation with "The Critic"
Does anyone out there know in which concert (venue and date) LC had the dialogue with "The Critic" in the audience in which LC said: "I mean, we are all here with our terribly shabby human limitations. What can I possibly do except sing a few of these appallingly simple songs I've written? What did you expect?"
There was some argument with the critic in Frankfurt 1976 I think, Loenard won it greatly, and also in Frankfurt 1970 or 1972... Frankfurt was difficult city it seems
And one of the London show on same night in 1985 was unpleasant, someone in audience wasn't satisfied. Maybe that can help? I remember the argument you quoted, but on which show of hundred CDRs...

Improvisation
Thanks very much. I'll check them out. Frankfurt '72 is unbelievable. It wasn't at that concert that he said those words, but I don't know how anyone could have the balls to say what he did to that audience. And watching "Bird on a Wire," when he says he disgraced himself that night, I've wondered if it was because of his "making out" with a woman in the audience, or whether it was because of what he said to them. - Fascinating stuff, and a fascinating man.
