Hello, I'm new to the forum and I figure I'd introduce myself in a more peculiar way than just slipping in quietly...
My name is Nick and I'm nineteen years old. I'm a massive Leonard Cohen fan, I owe very much to him.

Have a listen and let me know what you think, your honesty is appreciated.
See you around, friends.

Thanks so much, you just made my day! :D

I can play many LC songs, but that's the only one I've actually recorded. Perhaps I'll get around to recording some more.

See you around.

Hi Vauxhall,

I would very much like a listen, but as it stands, I have no room left in my computer. I'm looking for either a new computer or as an interim solution, a new HDD. So, as the file has to be downloaded, I can't do it. Not at this moment at least. I'll do some disk maintenance, then maybe I can squeeze something further into this old clunker.

Speaking of which, I once had a typewriter very similar to the one in your avatar. In fact, I think it's still in my parents' home (in my old room). I should pick it up as they have a nice look about them. I could use it for a, I dunno, a planter or something. lol

I'll try and get that download happening as soon as I can. Thanks for your efforts.

Linda.

PS: I even think my Dad once drove a Vauxhall. You're not my Dad, are you???

Hello Vauxhall,

I listened to it. Liked it. Good voice. Good guitar. Good rendition. But I didn't much care for the toy piano plinking in the background. At least it sounded like a toy piano.

Do you write or record anything original?

HI~

Wicked good!!
I agree the plinky piano degraded the ambiance. I liked the positioning of it in the song. Keep that same idea in mind but use an instrument that doesn't sound so 'cheap.'
Really don't mean to be complaining! Overall i really liked it. You have a great voice.

regards,
Laurie

Hi Vauxhall ~

I tried to listen a couple days ago, but couldn't get to it. Guess I should have at least mentioned my effort.

Thanks so much everyone for responding!

Wow, overwhelming response for the removal of the piano (which was, of course, my favorite part :D)!

I felt it was an interesting addition to the song, keeping in mind the origins and the time it was written. I imagined being on the run in a war-torn country and coming across a musical casualty of war...a broken-down piano. Maybe that borders on pretentiousness. I also saw "The Pianist" recently.

Thanks for all the compliments on the guitar playing and my voice. I'm definitely the most insecure about my voice, so that's very reassuring and meaningful to me.

I've written a lot of originals, but I haven't put them to tape yet. At least not in any finalized form. I'm recording a lot of covers right now to get myself warmed up for my own.

Thanks again for all the interest!

Vauxhall,

How big is that file? I'm sure there's a lot of junk in this thing that I can chuck - how much junk should I chuck to download the file?

Linda.
