A Ramble of Life

Post by George.Wright »

it was the twisted look on the face
from the falling from grace
toppled from the mount
and out for a long count
my oh my the crowd they would shout
and the crueltly of life would be a bitter clout
worse than the walk with the cross
with the pain and suffering of the weight
somewhere in songs of love and hate
the betrayal and the rusty hinges of the garden gate
who cares in religion, what's my fate?
crucified nails in the bloodied knot of the wood
replicates the universe with it's spiral staircase understood
the meaning of life is the eternal good
that powers us all and is our food
a lot of us will this secret alude
spirit encased in flesh
a mumified decoding of the mesh
that connects cross like the matter energy space and time
and poet's attempt to get the energy to rhyme
in stanza's and words and feeling of being
this energy is all seeing
and some would call the divine being
a pure passion of the lotus unfolded
germinated and impregnated and the cracks of life moulded
following a pattern like the herds
of nature in tune with a divine nerd
the geography replicates the furrows of the blood and the flow
of energy that touches and melts the snow
and allows the beautiful flowers of life in all colours grow

A Ramble of Life

Post by Byron »

George, I know what I get from this piece. On one level we all try to get through our lives. On another, we are all part of a much bigger plan that we do not yet understand fully. On another level I get a hint that we all exist in time eternal and that this brief spell in our veil of tears is but a short interlude in our ever continuous journey from a place we can no longer remember to a place we can only aspire to. In a way it feels almost like a hindu path of discovery, but with the cross being the essential door, through which we have to pass in order to prove that we are worthy of being allowed on this journey. But then again I could be totally wrong and talking through my other mouth. I would say though that I enjoy this piece. It improves with each reading, and I hope it meets with well reasoned, thoughtful and constructive, critical reviews from our fellow contributors who feel that they have something useful to say.

Dear Byron,

It is good to see someone take the time and trouble to give and express serious consideration of Georges' poetry. I don't always understand what he has written, nor do I pretend to. At the same time, I know that as he writes it, he is expressing images and a progression of thought that are truly in his mind and which he is seriously expressing. When he says it is nice to read, I know he means it, and I concur.

Thank you for giving the same time to him that you would anyone else who expresses themselves here. In addition to other things, it speaks highly of you.

Yes Byron, you seem to grasp the hidden recesses of George's mind and poetry. I confess that I sometimes don't comment on Georges poetry because it is too deep for me to understand. I will try harder. Then perhaps I too can contribute. Good work Byron. And good work George.
