my dog ate my poem

Post by LaurieAK »

The poemaday hell is becoming seriously difficult. I will cause more sighs of digust and boredom amongst the dwellers in these parts by sharing yet another one. L (rhymes with hell)

My Dog Ate My Poem

I got up this morning, made my lunch.
Showered, dressed, had something to munch.
My poem, I wrote just the night before
Lay black and white on my bedroom floor.

It spoke of faeries and autumn leaves;
Tumbleweed stars and one-eyed thieves.
The kiss at the end woulda melted your knees.
(Colin Firth was there, his shirt hung in the tree).
I wrote until midnight, then wrote some more.
For love, for love! For 'tis never a chore!
With perfect meter - O' iambic bliss
Auden & Yeats wished my verses were his!

Exhausted as feathers, my pages did fall
My head on the pillow, dreaming did call!
The dog which I speak, she knows not better
That the papers she ate were not for a Setter.

ok live "poem" wriitng, here goes

My dog ate my poem
no rhyme no reason
got a lead
the Bitch was in season

there we are, homework done, 23 hrs, 59 minutes, 25 seconds of your day left.

C2

crap but *quick* crap

btw my dog did not eat my poem, but I did take him to Barnet today and the temptation to let him on the pitch was seriously serious but, most unusually for me, I resisted temptation and we just walked along the terraces.

Hi Lizz~

Nope. A limerick is always that well know sing-song form/meter.

It's closer to a sonnet form.

Glad you liked.

they run a liberal regime in this establishment. anyway, you Tease, I know you have seen plenty of pics of my Cato, including where he is proudly wearing his Barnet coat with his name, Cato Wolkind, written on it.

Hmmm, sorry Michael, I have no recollect of seeing your dog. I saw you kissing a dolphin and some nice pics of your lovely kids...but the dog alludes me. I have a pretty good idea what they look like, don't get me wrong. A wet nose, two ears, mood-detector tails, fur coats...Do you have a link to your doggy? I promise to try and remember Cato this time. Great name! Pink Panther? Or Oj's babysitter?

See why I only aspire to "interthingy" [probably 'last' year's term, as well :? ]? But, I don't aspire this year!

yes, he is pretty wonderful. you may have missed my story that I have been scared of dogs all my life. but Kathy grew up with a labrador and my girls were very keen, particularly Rikki who loves all animals (put the rest of us to shame at the Everglades a few years ago as she held alligators and crocs whilst we all ran away!). then one day I decided that a dog wouldn't (or, at least was unlikely), to kill me.

apparently I didn't go down stairs on my own for the first few months when this adorable puppy arrived. he grew up, I changed day by day and now I love him. he is a flat-coated retriever and will chase all day and eat all day.

he has changed my life!

They DO change your life. There is nothing else like that unconditional doggy love, and what it makes you feel in return.

You were very brave 8)

Sarah is my rebound dog. Her predecessor will always be my main squeeze. He WAS the best dog in the world, for all time.

Sarah was a neurotic mess when I got her home. The bastard that had her four years before me was abusive and neglected her. Her coat was thin and scrappy. Not much of a looker. I had to teach her to look me in the eyes. Now she is self assertive and has a sense of humor (very important in a dog). And she shines with health. The main residual effects of her previous life are if you accidently wake her when she is sleeping deeply, she wakes up snarling and snapping for a few seconds. It is terrifying for her and whoever happened to wake her. She is a good girl. We all have our 'issues.'

Hey Micle~

Instead of working i am doing this and goofing around with my avatar...i have my priorities!

Sarah is some sort of husky/shephard/sled dawg mess, um i mean mix.
I have a picture of her on my blog, along side the poem she wrote...

My ultimate dog, Mr. Pooh was a whitish/0ff-whitish, blue eyed, alpha male. He looked much like those enthusiastic, smiling guys who run the Iditarod. Funny that both my dogs were capable of pulling sleds, yet have/had lives of sleeping on couches and eating from forks (they don't mind my germs!).

No designer dogs for me. There is a super cutee one across the street from us...a Swiss Bernard. She had puppies a few years back and it was like something from a Disney show to see those balls of designer puppy sweetness when they got big enough to let out.

Mr. Pooh was used too. But he was only about a year when we got him...so i've never had the experience of raising one from a pup.

L (rhymes with bloody hell!)

p.s. i stuck my blog link in my profile

What is your avatar, Laurie? It resembles an organized tangle of metal on the left, atop some paper. I recognized the rose right off the top.

"Year of the Dog" ~ that's appropriate. Can't get to your photo, though. It's Blocked ~ I'll try at home. Like your Blog's name.
