Rocket Girl

Post by Pete »

She dreamed of stars
of moons and stars
shooting stars
and dreams.
She reached for skies
for clouds and skies
cloudless skies
and beams
of light so bright
ambitions bright
giving light
and streams
of dashing hope
undying hope
dying hope
it seems.

In this post, I would like to share with you some thoughts I originally organized to embrace the cause of self-determination and recognize the leading role and clearer understanding of those people for whom the quintessential struggle is an encompassing liberation movement against the totality of narcissism. The nitty-gritty of what I'm about to write is this: If you can go more than a minute without hearing Mr. Matlock Pete, Esq. talk about post-structuralism, rockets and stars, you're either deaf, dumb, or in a serious case of denial.

He says that it's okay for him to indulge his every whim and lust without regard for anyone else or for society as a whole. That is the most despicable lie I have ever heard in my entire life. For all intents and purposes, when I'm through with Mr. Pete, he'll think twice before attempting to make people weak and dependent. Even if I agreed that his ophidian platitudes were of paramount importance, it would still be the case that a central point of his belief systems is the notion that his plans for the future can give us deeper insights into the nature of reality. His skies are not clear, there is no beam.

Perhaps Mr. Pete should take some new data into account and revisit that notion. I think he'd find that you may have noticed that he should try being a little more open-minded. But you don't know the half of it. For starters, this is not Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia, where the state would be eager to change this country's moral infrastructure. Not yet, at least. But Mr. Pete says that he can absorb mana by devouring his nemeses' brains. But then he turns around and says that he has been robbed of all he does not possess. You know, you can't have it both ways, Mr. Pete.

How on earth these spoilsports can think of themselves as anything but misguided scrubs is beyond me. Look at it from my point of view: If Mr. Pete doesn't like it here, then perhaps he should go elsewhere. While most people know this like a schoolchild knows that 2+2=4, we must pave the way for people of every sex, race, and socioeconomic status to fulfill their own spiritual destiny. If we don't, future generations will not know freedom. Instead, they will know fear; they will know sadness; they will know injustice, poverty, and grinding despair. Most of all, they will realize, albeit far too late, that Mr. Pete's habitués say, "Those of us who oppose him would rather run than fight." Yes, I'm afraid they really do talk like that.

It's the only way for them to conceal that Mr. Pete complains a lot. What's ironic, though, is that he hasn't made even a single concrete suggestion for improvement or identified a single problem with the system as it exists today. This much is clear: Many people are convinced that the similarities between Mr. Pete and prurient dingbats should not be taken lightly. I can't comment on that, but I can say that certain facts are clear. For instance, I appreciate feedback and other people's views on subjects. I don't, however, appreciate feedback when it's given in an unprofessional manner. Of course, even Mr. Pete's emissaries are afraid that Mr. Pete will destroy all tradition, all morality, and the entire democratic system any day now. I have seen their fear manifested over and over again, and it is further evidence that Mr. Pete hates it when you say that he should just exercise some common sense and some common decency. He really hates it when you say that. Try saying it to him sometime, if you have a thick skin and don't mind having him shriek insults at you.

In this land which has befriended ill-bred pissants, he has conspired, plotted, undermined, prostituted, and corrupted, and -- hiding to this hour behind the braver screen of unambitious politicos -- dares to contrive and scheme the death of every principle that has protected him. It must be reemphasized that when the war against reason is backed by a large cadre of detestable election-year also-rans, the results are even more lethargic. That said, let me continue. If Mr. Pete wants to give expression to that which is most destructive and most harmful to society, let him wear the opprobrium of that decision. If you've never seen him combine, in a rare mixture, bestial cruelty and an inconceivable gift for lying, you're either incredibly unobservant or are concealing the truth from yourself. It is disgraceful that, with a wink and a smile, Mr. Pete has signified his approval of unregenerate scalawags who block streets and traffic to the extent that ambulances can't get through.

His philosophies have merged with favoritism in several interesting ways. Both spring from the same kind of reality-denying mentality. Both diminish society's inducements to good behavior. And both dispense outright misinformation and flashlight-under-the-chin ghost stories. I, hardheaded cynic that I am, have avoided engaging in open debate with jejune, rabid schemers -- or even acknowledging their existence -- for fear of lending them any form of legitimacy. Since I don't have anything more to say on that subject, I'll politely get off my soapbox now.
