There was a review of the album in our local paper, The Manchester Evening News, on Friday.

'Imagine Billie Holiday recorded under 21st century conditions interpreting quality popular songs of all eras and you have an approximation of what this album sounds like. Peyroux bears such an uncanny aural resemblance to Lady Day that it easy to become diverted from an appreciation of her own talents. This is a pity because her phrasing and sense of rhythm are quite distinctive as she sheds new light on commpositions such as Bob Dylan's Your'e Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go and Hank Williams's Weary Blues. The backing group, including guitarist Dean Parks, is relaxed and Unobtrusive. 4 out of 5.

Sorry, I only caught the last page of this thread, is it Careless Love? The CD, I mean? Definitely a 'must have'. This is one I have no qualms about putting money on.

Careless Love, definitely one to have. I am not a jazz fan generally, but a few artists or occasional albums do appeal to me from time to time. This cd is very nice. Another one I only became aware of through recommendation on this forum.

Hi Margaret,

This forum is a wealth of information concerning what to listen to/read/see/eat and all the rest, isn't it. Wonderful, wonderful.
