RIP jack lazariuk
sad to learn that jack lazariuk has died

Re: RIP jack lazariuk
That's sad news G. Jack was one of the old-timers and he always kept the chat/newsgroup busy when he participated. "There is never enough time to say our last word - the last word of our love, our desire, faith, remorse, submission, revolt" (Joseph Conrad). RIP Jack.
Re: RIP jack lazariuk

This was sad news. Jack has been a member of the community gathered around Leonard's work for very long time.
The photo is from our Montreal Event in 2000. I still remember his personal lesson on Leonard's Montreal and his view of the Magic of the Event.
Rest in Peace, Jack

Re: RIP jack lazariuk
Sad news indeed. I remember Jack in Montreal in 2000, his amazing presence, his wonderful birthday party. RIP
Re: RIP jack lazariuk
thank you for posting this here, geoffrey. the atmosphere feels changed without jack- i mean in the world not just here.
Re: RIP jack lazariuk
NOOOOOOOO!
Please tell me, this cannot be true! How? When?
Jack was one of the philosophers on the old Newsgroup which was founded, I believe, by the late great poet, Judith Fitzgerald.
I came in later & felt right at home among that weirdly wild & wonderful bunch.
Jack was always one of my favorites. Hell, who am I kidding? Though I never had the honor of actually meeting him in his lovely flesh, I had the flaming hots for him-- his words and his ideas, long before I ever saw a photo of him, resembling another Jack-- Kerouac-- just as I'd imagined him-- and I often flirted shamelessly with him online.
And he always fended off my amorous hints with such gentleness and clever wit, often in such a way as to suggest he didn't even "get" what I was hinting at.
This is truly a loss for this group. He'll never be forgotten.

Re: RIP jack lazariuk
Yes, great to see you Squidgy. Sad that it had to be to remember Jack and his presence in the newsgroup for so many years. Wishing you well and all the best regards.
Re: RIP jack lazariuk
Ah, Geoffrey, It's great to see you again, too! Thank you for that correction. Perhaps Judith said she was "one of" the founding members of the newsgroup, and I mis- remembered it as "the" founder.
Was Perry Metzger known by another name in the newsgroup?
And while we're on the subject of old people, Geoffrey, I beseech you, please don't ever die. I couldn't bear it.

Hey dere dar! How wonderful to see you! You are missed. Hell, I gotta stop this sporadic dropping in & lurking & tossing a coupla wordbombs & then disappearing routine. I need, really really need, to come around this calm & fruitful place more, because all you guys nourish my soul in ways impossible to express. But real life keeps gettin' in the way. Things have been especially hard lately. I hope life has been good to you. Much love.

not that i know of. one would need to look at the ISP in the usenet 'ghost data', and that would be a job for a forensic data technician. i could probably do it, but it would be quite time consuming.

i will stay as long as you, jarkko and dar try to do the same. leonard used to say 'they'll never catch us!' - but that was later adjusted to 'i'll see you further on down the road!' anyway, let's wait and see what happens

Sad news indeed, RIP Jack
… though I never met him in person, I remember him well and fondly, with his always very valuable contributions in online discussions.

Re: RIP jack lazariuk
i went to the old newsgroup today & saw a message indicating that come frebruary 22, 2024 there will be no more posting but that an archive will remain- the archive of historical data. it feels more than a little fitting that the old newsgroup dies with jack. at least to me, who grew up there. xo you guys. dar, snow
