I found this site through a Google search because I wanted to see if there was any updated info about Leonard going on tour.

I like both U2 and Leonard Cohen becaue I think they are true poets. Granted, U2 has had some great and not so great music over the years, but, overall, they've written some really intense lyrics. However, there is no one who writes like Leonard. He can capsulize an emotion or feeling like no one else. I discovered him on my own, which is partly why he's so special to me. I stumbled across one of his books in a used book store, and took it home on a whim. I've been hooked ever since.

I do like Bono's version of Hallelujah even though I know there are people who think it's awful. I think that both Bono and Leonard put a lot of passion into their work, and that's what either turns people on or off.

I really would like to be a fly on a wall sometime when those two minds meet.

Lucky you to have stumbled upon one of his books. They're (the out of print ones) are becoming increasingly hard to find.

You're right that no one can quite 'capsulize' an emotion, a feeling or experience like Leonard can. His most perfect songs can leave me forgiving the less than 'perfect' I've always liked U2 as well, more so in their earlier days. But, change is necessary, I guess.

Hard to say exactly when the tour might happen, I think. However, we've all got our admission money put aside by now.

There's one thing I have to admit, however, I really didn't like Bono's cover of Hallelujah. Oh, well. There are some that Love with great Passion, DOALM. A little bit of something for us al, I guess.

Yes, a fly on the wall...it could be interesting all right!

I have to admit that when it comes to Bono and U2, I am slightly biased. I am an extremely loyal fan--sometimes I disgust myself with my steadfastness. I just saw U2 (two times) in May, and they sounded more like the U2 from past days than they have in a long time. They even sang a few of their old songs.

But this is not a forum about U2...

Do you have Leonard's latest album? What do you think? I find it hard to believe that after all these years he still have soemthing new and poignant to say. You would think he might have run out of words by now.

Hi Bonnie,

Yes, I do have DH. To be honest, it took me a while to get used to it. Now, it's the LC cd that is on my discman the most. So, overall, yes, I do like it. I had a hard time liking it though. I never really got to 'love' TNS, either. Although, pretty much every one of his records has something to offer.

I don't think Leonard will ever run out of words. He probably has hills and dunes of words hidden away somewhere. He' notorious for starting a poem, putting it away and then dragging it out years later.

If you've been over the site, I imagine you've seen that there's enough material for another record as well as a book. Thems a lot of words!

But this is not a forum about U2...

No it isn't. But, that does not mean that you can't talk about U2. We've talked about just about everyone in here. There are threads for 'other music', but just about every thread can swerve into a different direction. I think that now that Leonard has a deal going with U2, that it would be quite appropriate to talk about U2 (Bono, esp.)
