Re: September 21, 1934
I didn’t know if we were having a thread this year to commemorate Leonard’s birthday so that’s a good idea, Hartmut!
I hope you don’t mind if I also join in here.
I was just thinking about the theme for the new album and today after looking at the video for The Goal with its black background and embossed gold images I was inspired to do this design below. But for a different feeling I’ve used mainly the cooler colour purple which is the complimentary contrast colour of the warmer gold.
From Leonard’s very first concert in 1970 to his very last one in 2013 he has sung these words –
“But I will go on……then we’ll come from these shadows, I mean these very shadows”.
This he has always done and will always do.
"He’s there where the light and the darkness divide".
I hope you don’t mind if I also join in here.

Re: September 21, 1934
Hartmut & Bev, both of your posts are so lovely & beautiful, that I feel compelled to add an offering. So, shabby though it may be, here is something I wrote in honor of our Leonard's 85th birthday:
Darling, Where Are You?
And when they ask, saying "Darling, where are you?"
What shall I tell them
My heaven my love
my eternal dove
who carried me off to the faraway
who ferried me down to the deep
who lifted me up to the ecstasy
who taught this soul to weep
who cradled my heart in the sound of unborn
who rescued me in the sea of forlorn
who mended the love so cruelly shorn
My heaven my dove
my eternal love
I am still there
And darling, where are you?
Darling, Where Are You?
And when they ask, saying "Darling, where are you?"
What shall I tell them
My heaven my love
my eternal dove
who carried me off to the faraway
who ferried me down to the deep
who lifted me up to the ecstasy
who taught this soul to weep
who cradled my heart in the sound of unborn
who rescued me in the sea of forlorn
who mended the love so cruelly shorn
My heaven my dove
my eternal love
I am still there
And darling, where are you?

What a beautiful, heartfelt poem, holydove/Rachel. I am sure that many of us can relate to the sentiments -- I certainly do. Thank you for sharing it.
Re: September 21, 1934
Bev & Lisa, I had to summon some courage to post that poem, so I want you to know that your very sweet words are appreciated - thank you!
Re: September 21, 1934
Hi Holydove,
Sorry for being late; but I've just now seen your poem, and of course I also like it! - Let's hope he somehow hears you.

Hi Holydove,
I would like to add my congratulations and express my admiration of your poem. I love it.
If your use of the word “shabby” is not as tongue in cheek as Leonard’s, it certainly should be.
I am in awe of people with a creative talent - you should share more with us.
Best wishes,
Alan

And I've just noticed this -
So nice of you to say that Leslie, and as always it's absolute pleasure to depict Leonard in any shape or form!!
