Mac Rebennack's passing was a Very Big Deal in the Big Easy. Seems like the entire city of New Orleans turned out for the Second Line sendoff.
Lots of photos from local news:

Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys produced & played on Dr. John's Grammy-winning 2013 album, Locked Down. Here's his very touching memory of The Dr.

FWIW, I checked oldies.com, & most of his music is sold out. Since he started out in the 50s, he's been considered a musician's musician. Dude could do everything: rock & roll, do-wop, boogie-woogie, dirty blues, jazz, world music, swamp boogie, voodoo. Industry people cited him as a major influence, but outside of New Orleans, he'd mostly become a relic, despite continuing to perform & put out great solo albums & session work with many others.
Now he's being rediscovered by a whole new generation of FANS.
RIP Dr. John

You're welcome, Tony!
You too, Kush, and thanks for all the links to the Neville family performances. Those are great! I hadn't known Charles had passed.
