The Beginning....a poem

Post by LaurieAK »

This came about from a comment by Vesuvius regarding my "end" poem. Just a quickie. Cheers, Laurie

The Beginning

i have the burden and privilege
of choosing what scene you walk in on:

The illegitimate baby i am,
or trickr treating child gypsy.
The girl who won a spelling bee
or the woman who suffered the most--

Enter,,
as Winter becomes a seasonal favorite
when Summer gave up on blonding my
locks and glowing my skin with a tan.

Maybe reveal a previous life
(One i am sure was spent in Venice!)

Perhaps start with a youthful night spent
watching Northern Lights
and drinking Southern Comfort with
a friend who died last year.

Endless starts - Ceaseless stops
Where DO "i" begin?

Great selection on your choices picked out of one's [your] life to describe the double entendre of your last line. I'm sorry about your friend. You rose to the occasion with your poem, Laurie.

E & L, thanks so much for your comments. The process this time was easy. It felt done, but was angst-less. Makes me suspicious when that happens. L

Nonetheless, the posing of a most important question.

Blinding imagery. "When summer gave up on blonding my locks..."
