LEONARD IN PORTLAND

Post by BURBANK1958 »

Hello Fellow Leonardites
In the late eighties Leonard came to Portland, Oregon and we had great
seats. Afterward, everyone waited for him to come out and sign autographs,
which he gladly did. When I got to him I asked him if there was address
where I could write him at. He looked at me and said in that quiet deep voice
"Come on in, I'll give you my address". He brought me inside and gave me his home address in Canada. I never wrote him and I don't think he lives
there anymore. But, the fact that a celebrity would do that for a fan in
unbelievable. Thats what makes him special. He treats his audience like
human beings and doesn't look down on them.
Thank you for letting me share this with all of you.
Bob

 I know Leonard lives in Los Angeles, now. I wonder, was the address he gave you in Montreal? If it were me, I'd probably be stupid enough to show up on his doorstep! Or someone else's doorstep. He has been quoted as saying that although he lives in LA, he still regards Montreal as 'home'. Who knows? Chance of a lifetime...gone.

I believe you must have appeared like somebody you can trust,
Burbank 1958. Obviously Leonard hasn't given his address too
deliberately to people. And I, too, would have sent at least a ton of letters
or so. Why didn't you make something of that opportunity?

Hi Catherine,

It would seem that you and I are both wearing the same expressions. Well, I would have brought a bottle of wine, anyway. But, yes, why not use the opportunity for something?. Also, Leonard just may have a family home or at least, a home, in Montreal still.

Cheers,
Linda[/i]

He has it. He gave some interviews there in 2001.
And what would you write him? I can understand Burbank's point. I'd probably never write him also. Like now, when I can contact him easily. But why to bother him, when you can't stop thinking he has much more important things to do/write/record. I think that with Leonard it's jot the usual stardom and fandom thing. Letters he got are usually simple&sincere thanks for his work, and never annoying fan notes. I'd probably write him "thank you, for all" or something like that.

Hi Tom,

I think catherine and I (well at least I) had something a wee bit different in mind. In jest, of course. :D

Hi Linda!
Thank you very much, although I believe my 100th post to be
somewhere else. Indeed I have even marked the occasion
on another thread, I think it was the "Interview the person below you" one.

Anyway, I'm left with a sense of pride I can't deny
and the eagerness to reach the 200 soon.
In fact, I find myself increasing my daily amount of posts
for quite a while.

Hi catherine,

When I made my 100th I felt like it was an achievement as well but the further I went, the less I counted. I find, even now, I can't remember anything I said! It must be some kind of typographical error! I can't have posted however many because I don't know what I said (if the truth be known, I don't want to be reminded either).

I'm just going through my topic notifications right now, and I have suspicion that I'll be meeting you again in a minute or two. I sure hope that 'obstacle' question isn't still sitting there!

See ya later,
Linda
