Poem #1

Post by Joe Way »

Snowy Season!

But winter oh that magic time, the crisp feel of the world
When snow lays on the silent ground like cotton roll unfurled
The blanket white of downy fluff secreting all the ground.
Muffling noise around it, a world without a sound.
The trees all tall and naked bony fingers to the sky
The presence of the wind like a baby’s gentle sigh.

Natures world is sleeping and resting ‘til the spring
Burrows, nests and other homes prepare for nurturing.
A secret hoard of goodies is stored throughout the year
As winter’s natural famine clicks up another gear.
The foxes and the squirrels, the hedgehogs and the hares.
Food safely stored and organised, insulated lairs.

With winter comes a peaceful wood, a solace ‘til the Spring
When all the woods come back to life with birds upon the wing
And bluebells, snowdrops all around welcomes the season in

This is a sweet portrayal. Quiet language and picturesque winter scenes. I like the journey into burrowing animals cozy abodes.

I wish it was a little less "rhyme" driven.

Nice poem.

No, critic2, not Georges. The rhythm of is different... The way of rhyming is different...

On the other hand: none of the poems seems to be Georges.'

Maybe he didn't participate.
