Poetry Contest Update

Post by Joe Way »

Hello Poets,

I know you are patiently awaiting the results of all your fine efforts and I will be posting them in the next couple of days.

I do want to take a moment now to explain a rather bizarre snafu that we have uncovered. It seems that the forum clock can be adjusted in one's "profile." While it is by default set to GMT, it can be adjusted for individual timezones so that the "time stamp" on a post might be different from the sender to the receiver. This has caused some rather unfortunate rejections of several poems. I want to take full responsibility as I was the person who set this arbitrary deadline that I thought would be the same for us all. By the time that we discovered the problem, the anonymous quality of the poems and poets had been uncovered. We will have to come up with a different system for future contests.

Thank you to the person who uncovered this flaw and please accept my apology and the apology of my intermediary to those poets who's poems were deemed "late" by this error.

I'll return with the results within the next couple of days.

Joe

Hi Joe ~

So, since it would seem the past-due times weren't that significant, are you going to be included the allegedly late poems in your judging?

What a bummer. I've always gone by GMT time, and then [tried  ] to adjust it mentally, when communicating with someone where it seemed [possibly  ] relevant.

I am quite content for the Supreme Court to rule on your actions. I express no personal view at all on the arbitrary and capricious disgrace of your procedure.
