Do people outside of the UK really watch "Last Night Of The Proms"??

Mind you, it must be as funny for an outsider watching all those Brits in Union Jack bowlers bouncing up and down like cretins.

I suspect that one of Britons' greatest qualities is the ability to laugh at our own ridiculousness (despite the more troubling tendency to laugh harder at that of others). I long for the day when the whole world catches the fever

Well, I know at least quite a few Germans who do! Personally, when I was studying in England (one year as a visiting student), I even took part in the "Win a box at the ,Last Night of the Proms' with Classic FM" - competition; well, I did not just take part - I virtually flooded them with phone calls - but, alas, without success! Hubert Parry was educated at the college where I was staying, too, by the way, so "Jerusalem" has always been a big favourite there for Evensong...

Parry's is a good tune too, womanfromaroom, although as a Worcester lad I've inherited a partiality for Elgar's Hope & Glory (despite the shit lyrics, which would benefit from an LC-style update )

You are certainly right! Ah, what Leonard could turn them into... I can just about imagine!
Yes, I like both Parry and Elgar a lot. But my favourite English composers are Delius and, above all, Vaughan-Williams... I just love him! (Not as much as Leonard and Brel, of course; or, rather, in a completely different way, but still!).

This poem was NOT written by Leonard. This was confirmed by Robert Kory a few days ago and then by Leonard himself.

The links provided here do not lead to evidence of falsification of accreditation carried by Leonard Cohen during the 70's. Please provide some proof of your contention that the poem "Question for Shomrin" does not originate with Leonard Cohen, if possible. As far as i am concerned the style and tenure of the poem is LCish.
