Hi there
Does anybody know of poems (or songs) of LC that are either about nature or where he uses examples of nature as symbolism? I got as far as the nightingale song, but that is a tee bit sad and I am looking for a more positive poem.
Thanks!

I really do not think that Peter's suggestion fulfills the requirement of "a more positive poem".
How about this one, a sweet little poem from Leonard's book The Spice-Box of Earth:
"Summer Haiku"
Silence
and a deeper silence
when the crickets
hesitate

Re: Leonard cohen poem about nature
As the mist leaves no scar
On the dark green hill
So my body leaves no scar
On you and never will
Through windows in the dark
The children come, the children go
Like arrows with no targets
Like shackles made of snow
True love leaves no traces
If you and I are one
It's lost in our embraces
Like stars against the sun
As a falling leaf may rest
A moment on the air
So your head upon my breast
So my hand upon your hair
And many nights endure
Without a moon or star
So we will endure
When one is gone and far
True love leaves no traces
If you and I are one
It's lost in our embraces
Like stars against the sun
On the dark green hill
So my body leaves no scar
On you and never will
Through windows in the dark
The children come, the children go

Well I think I found one!
Thank you LC:
If I Didn't Have Your Love
If the sun would lose its light
And we lived an endless night
And there was nothing left
That you could feel
That's how it would be
What the world would seem to me
If I didn't have your love
To make it real
If the stars were all unpinned
And a cold and bitter wind
Swallowed up the world
Without a trace
Well that's where I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I couldn't lift the veil
And see your face
If no leaves were on the tree
And no water in the sea
And the break of day
Had nothing to reveal
That's how broken I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I didn't have your love
To make it real
If the sun would lose its light
And we lived an endless night
And there was nothing left
That you could feel
If the sea were sand alone
And the flowers made of stone
And no one that you hurt
Could ever heal
That's how broken I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I didn't have your love
To make it real
