L.C. Song Hunt
Re: L.C. Song Hunt
hehe! The French Suzanne is also the English Susan

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

I was saving that for later, Bev.

haha! sorry to spoil your fun, Hartmut
Seeing that you are interested in comparing melodies etc. here's something to ponder on relating to the last song I asked you all to find - A Thousand Kisses Deep but here as a recitation.
It has been said that the background music is similar to Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings. See what you think.

Barber's Adagio

A Thousand Kisses Deep recitation
If you play them together at the same time they do create an interesting experimental blend .....

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi Bev,
Thank you for the links. Yes, the Adagio is a bit similar. "It has been said" so, apparently, but I had never heard about it.
You know, there's this a capella recitation of "A Thousand Kisses Deep" ...

Vou can use it to create your own personal version with background music. I find it works especially well with these two pieces (or even with both of them at the same time):
"Twin Peaks Theme"

"Benny Hill Theme"

Now that's an interesting idea! - Yes, it works; mainly because Neil Larsen's accompaniment is so restrained.B4real wrote: If you play them together at the same time they do create an interesting experimental blend .....

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi,
A song character receives a derisive rebuff in what song?

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi Steven,
I'll give it a try but it could be that I misinterpreted your question...
Crazy to love you ?
Different sides ?
A street ?

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Seems a bit quiet here so I'll venture a guess too -
I asked her to hold me, I said, "Lady, unfold me,"
but she scorned me and she told me
I was dead and I could never return.

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Or possibly: The Captain
Among several verses which contain rebuffs:
"Command of what, there's no one here/ There's only you and me. . .", or
"Your standing days are done," I cried, / "You'll rally me no more..."

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi anny, B4real and holydove,
Thank you for the replies. Feels to me that holydove has a correct answer with "The Captain."
However, "The Captain" isn't the one that I had in mind. The yet unidentified song has a rebuff
with derision at what may be a maximum level. A character is taken down by the rebuff and
presumably by the way it was delivered.

Death of a Ladies'Man ?
Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi anny,
Yes, "Death of a Ladies' Man" is a correct answer, evidenced by "she mocked his female fashions and his
working-class moustache" and the context of the line to the rest of the lyrics. The song I had in mind,
though, remains unidentified. Hint: In that song, rebuff and derision are expressed in a nonverbal but
audible way.

Might I venture a guess?
'You have loved enough':
I said I'd be your lover. / You laughed at what I said.

Re: L.C. Song Hunt
Hi Hartmut,
Yes, you are correct. "You Have Loved Enough" is the song. You quoted the two
applicable lines.
Hi holydove, anny and Hartmut,
If one of you would like to post the next question, please do so.

I'm out of ideas right now.
