Folk Songs After "Recent Songs"?

Post by Cihan »

The first four albums Leonard released (Not counting DoaLM) were all laid back/mainly guitar songs. I'm not really a fan of his later stuff (Blasphemy I know! Though I do like a few songs), so I was just wondering if there are any songs in his original style after "Recent Songs", or did he just go 100% into the Leonard we know today?

completely understand. it's tempting to long back to the good old days when things were so much better. that initial 'greek' feeling, guitar and jew's harp, was perfect. even today, the concert highlight is when he returns to the stage after the interval and does two or three songs alone, under the spotlight - very intense. 'DoaLM' is pretty much regarded as a catastrophe, but had he released an 'unplugged' version could have been a gem. the clock has been ticking, though. he's still the same creative leonard as he always was, evolving into greater depths of wisdom and maturity - and it's a comfort to know he's still around :-)

Oh man believe me, I still long to hear him go back to that sound for just one album. Could you imagine that style, couple with his current voice? It would be perfect! I am still very happy to see he creates, because I believe a man like Leonard will never cease to create until his last breath, and I hope that is a very long way away.

couldn't agree with you more, cihan. he should be locked in a room with a tape recorder and a guitar and told he's not coming out until he's done a few songs ;-)

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for! What a song, please do this more, Leonard.

In some corner of my mind I can hear this in his 70s voice, and it makes me very emotional.
