I thought for a second there that someone was saying that Leonard was gay. This conversation is getting more convoluted by the post :-)

Take care

k.d. lang sings two Leonard's songs on her new album of Canadian covers. Isn't she the best known lesbian singer?

Or perhaps Leonard is. I can't keep track of these things :-)

Take care

I quietly keep track of everything. k.d. lang is Canadian and a lesbian. I thought, though, she only did Hallelujah on this CD. She does do two of Neil Young's songs.

I didn't hear the CD, but I read Bird On The Wire is the best peformance on this CD.

Well Tom, you got me. She does indeed do Bird on the Wire. The critics seem to be focusing on Hallelujah more than any other I think. Whatever one might think of her choice of music she does have a very lovely voice.

Wayne:

There is a woman (I believe) whose name is Dylan, I believe she's black and she's posted many times in this forum. I haven't as yet met her, but she is certainly a Leonard fan (hard not to be!). I've been meaning to catch up with her and say a hello but our paths never seem to cross. Maybe in the New Year - I hope she hangs around long enough for you to meet her. Sometimes it's hard to 'connect' - there are so many people here, many have been here a long time. It can be tough to break through, if you will. Can't be shy if one intends to meet people - so next time I see a recent post of hers, I think I'll strike up a chat. You might wish to also - different perspectives and all that.

If you are new to Leonard's music, it might take a bit of time to absorb the nuances -- but SO worth it! You might like the 'Favourite LC Line' thread. A lot of good snippets of Leonard's work.

Anyway, Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year! You too, A'af.

Hi Wayne ~ Welcome to the Forum :D . How did you hear of Leonard/Leonard's music? There are many songs that I've thought would do well on the black radio stations. I've also thought they would do well on all radio stations, but I was wrong there. I hope you end up appreciating Leonard as we do. He's not the norm of any kind of music, however, so be prepared for that. We're grateful for it.

What Linda is saying is true. You need to be assertive, at least participatory, to link with people here.

Is Dylan a black woman? I didn't realize that. I think I had finally concluded that Dylan was a man, but not necessarily black. I thought he had just chosen the avatar due to his liking the singer.

OH! NO! Can it be true? I really must get more sleep. Seems I've been napping! Perhaps that's why our paths never seem to cross.

Concluding from the avatar, lizzy, I had suspected "Dylan" to be a "woman with non-white skin" myself ( the currently politically correct way to say this, I reckon, would - in the US - be "afro-american", but since our "Dylan" seems to be from Manchester, UK...)

I never cared for the colors of skins, anyway. But the first black LC fan will probably be "in office" for more than forty years...

Cheers to all of you

Tom

Thanks for the welcome lizzy.

I was introduced to Cohen in my "Oh Canada" class (a class about the history of Canadian Popular Music).

Cohen was performing one of his pieces somewhere (I can't remember where, or the piece), but I really liked it, and decided that I would do my essay on him.

So...here I am.
