Leonard Cohen in Julio Cortazar's Libro de Manuel

Post by HelenOE »

Came across this quote in a blog that was linked to, yes, Twitter. It's hardly news since it's a short quotation from a book that was written in 1973, but still...
From the Argentine writer Julio Cortázar´s Libro de Manuel (my translation):
(...) Come soon, comedian of the old dovecote, little bit of blue sky, cute ass, here in this chair and now I’ll make coffee for everybody, ristretto, che, ristrettisimo like a little painting of Chardin, all substance and light and perfume, coffee that condenses the magics of the night like those songs of Leonard Cohen that Francine gave me and that I love so much.
I'm pretty sure that Leonard would be honored to have his work compared to a really excellent shot of espresso.

Very cool, Helen. Suspect that Leonard would feel humbled and honoured by these comparisons.
