Happy Father's Day, Leonard

Post by lizzytysh »

Leonard may not be so keen on birthdays, but surely he's proud and happy when this day comes round.
Wishing him the best with Adam and Lorca as they celebrate their presence in each other's lives, as they live with such deep connection. They love him dearly as he loves them the same. Well done, Leonard!

Danse Russe
by William Carlos Williams

If when my wife is sleeping
and the baby and Kathleen
are sleeping
and the sun is a flame-white disc
in silken mists
above shining trees,-
if I in my north room
dance naked, grotesquely
before my mirror
waving my shirt round my head
and singing softly to myself:
"I am lonely, lonely,
I was born to be lonely,
I am best so!"
If I admire my arms, my face,
my shoulders, flanks, buttocks
against the yellow drawn shades,-

Who shall say I am not
the happy genius of my household?

Thanks for the link and the poem, Cate!

AND Happy Father's Day to all the single mothers out there and here, too. You have surely had to work extra hard at what you do to fulfill both roles!
