What a shame Seedy passed away so quickly, he could have made a second try - but some times there seems to be no justice at all

In memory for the late Seedy

p.s.: I heard some where that he's got a twin brother, who knows if he has a poet hidden in his belly :D

You mean Tweedy? I heard he went into singing, but then so did Leonard. So, there likely is a poem somewhere in there.

Okay, Critic2. There is obviously already some interest, as someone sent me a poem as their entry. Now, with Martine's volunteering as being a co-judge with you, she cannot be the middlewoman for the poems themselves. No biasing allowed. Perhaps, Laurie would be interested in being judge again, or was your [C2] bringing it up also your implicit volunteering for judgeship? Or, do you prefer to participate again? Due to certainly particulars in my life right now, and forthcoming, I can't be the recipient person. However, surely someone who can be trusted in this confidential role will volunteer.

Meanwhile, a theme is still needed, as is a specific deadline date in January. This will give even Martine  sufficient time to compose one.

I meant a comp. to start in January as I thought you lot would be busy all December Channukah shopping. But if you want a comp. in December, why not.

I'm shocked at the idea of Martine not participating. Was she not voted unanimously by 6 to 5 as the most promising poet (non-writing section) name beginning with M, Europe category, last time?

As I recall, she stumbled forward, whilst taking her deep bows; bonked herself on the head; and came up believing she's to be the next judge. But, yes, she did win a fair, if not unanimous, 6 to 5. She could be the go-between, as I was, and still continue plying her trade, however. Is that not compromise enough?

However, as to the timing of said comp, you're right. Over here, we have Thanksgiving, which rolls over almost immediately into Christmas, not to mention Channukah, so January is definitely the best month. Forget I mentioned anything that even remotely sounded like December.

my girls see a little bit of Christmas when they go to their grandma's otherwise we are a Chanukah only family. and quite right too. my son has Christmas in Denmark, but I forgive him.

add this celebration we have in common to our joint disapproval of Hallmark writing, wow poetry sites and clichees, and our shared encouragement of anonymous posting and objective critique.

And ~ truth be known ~ far be it from me to stand or sit between Martine and judgeship. If that's reeeeeeeally what you want, Critic2 and others can decide ~ but remember your path to poet glory will be brambled by that decision.

c2, i do weep at hallmark cards. i get sad thinking that someone could honestly write such CRAP and get PAID for it.

my mother was christian. when my sister and i were kids we got to celebrate both holidays. and then my birthday being in early january i was flooded with gifts and it was the best thing ever. but she left my family when i was 6, my sister 4, moved out, got re-married, became born-again hardcore, and i haven't spoken to her in maybe 5 years or more. what a happy ending. my dad re-married years later, about 5 or 6 years ago, to a woman i can't say i get along with too well, and her twin sons (now 14), who take after her if you know what i mean. but she is jewish, too, so i hardly see anything of christmas anymore, and that is fine with me. i could care less. christmas is such blasphemy if you think about it. so is easter. but all this is for a different discussion!

speaking of anonymous posting, i am going to join this new poetry contest, and c2, now you'll have to dislike everything just to be safe for when you come across mine. hahahaha. by the way, that reminds me to ask, can we enter more than one poem???

Amen (both Jewish and Christian) to your neat disposal of Hallmark writing.

I almost resisted asking you how your sister moved out when she was 4 and when she was *first* re-married. no, that is not an example of the quality of judging if I take that role. But I won't do it anyway as I enjoy too much the fun of writing.

I entered about 6 poems last time, it's a discipline to vary styles.

I'll let you know when Christmas is this year in case you change your mind (last year it was late December).

upon rereading my last post i realized i was unclear in stating who it was who left, but it was my mother. hahaha.

so yeah, i'm quite sure when christmas is. how could i forget the most blasphemous holidays of all? the birth of christ marked by a fat old jolly superman in a red suit, 9 flying reindeer, his midget slaves, and talking snowmen. remember: santa claus died for your sins.

i'll surely be getting a lump of coal... to which i can chuck at carolers.

okay, so, c2, let us know when these festivities begin, what the topic is, and who to send our entries to. thanks.

I am not going to set the topic. If I did, the trolls would emerge en masse and then probably implode simultaneously bleeding conspiracy theories all over the forum. We'd still be cleaning up the simple ABAB verses and forced rhymes by Christmas 2005. Little bits of Hallmark poetry would be stuck in the corners of this place forever. Oh, my soul, my heart, be true, etcrapcetera.
