Dublin 14 December 1979 Concert Setlist
Dublin 14 December 1979 Concert Setlist
Hi, I'm new to this site. I've been looking at the setlists for the Dublin concerts on 14 December 1979 and I notice that song number 19 on the second concert setlist is wrong. The 19th song in this setlist was actually The Jew's Blues (Billy Sunday). Trust me, I know. I was there. Paul

Re: Dublin 14 December 1979 Concert Setlist
Hi guys,
I don't know if this will help or hinder but I have an addition to make to that last list for this concert (the late show).
I have The Partisan recording physically at 12 - between A Singer Must Die at 11 and Famous Blue Raincoat at 13 (I'm not numbering the intros).
1. Bird On The Wire
2. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
3. Who By Fire
4. Passing Through
5. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong
6. The Smokey Life
7. So Long, Marianne
8. The Stranger Song
9. Chelsea Hotel #2
10. Avalanche
11. A Singer Must Die
12. The Partisan
13. Famous Blue Raincoat
14. Diamonds In The Mine
15. The Gypsy's Wife
16. Memories
17. Suzanne
18. The Window
19. Billy Sunday
20. Lover Lover Lover
21. Sisters Of Mercy
22. Tonight Will Be Fine
The actual sound recording agrees with Roman's list. Paul, did you mean to include that song? I'd like it clarified if possible please.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to B4real ~ me

Re: Dublin 14 December 1979 Concert Setlist
According to the recordings presented by Banalny (more here), The Partisan was performed at both Dublin concerts, right after 4-song solo set (The Stranger Song - Chelsea Hotel #2 - Avalanche - A Singer Must Die).
Re: Dublin 14 December 1979 Concert Setlist
Thanks Roman, That is what I have as well regards the late concert. I think Paul just forgot to include it in his list. Then again, maybe The Partisan wasn't played at all even though it's there!
But now this discussion has made me look at the early concert and what I have is different to the link list. I know there was some discrepancy about some Dublin tapes. My actual recording is listed below for the early concert:
1. Bird On The Wire
2. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
3. Who By Fire
4. Passing Through
5. The Gypsy's Wife
6. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong
7. The Smokey Life
8. There Is A War
9. So Long, Marianne
10. The Stranger Song
11. Chelsea Hotel#2
12. Avalanche
13. A Singer Must Die
14. The Partisan
15. Famous Blue Raincoat
16. Lover Lover Lover
17. Memories
18. Suzanne
........ I have no Tonight Will Be Fine or The Guests both listed at 17 and 18 respectively on the link list as below:
LEONARD COHEN
Dublin, Ireland - (National Stadium)
December 14, 1979
(1st show)
1st set:
1. Bird On The Wire
2. Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye
3. Who By Fire
4. Passin' Through
5. One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong
6. The Smokey Life
7. So Long, Marianne
8. The Stranger Song
2nd set:
9. Chelsea Hotel #2 - solo
10. Avalanche - solo
11. A Singer Must Die - solo
12. The Partisan
13. Famous Blue Raincoat
14. Lover Lover Lover
15. Memories
16. Suzanne
17. Tonight Will Be Fine
18. The Guests
Again, just wondering which is correct. Maybe Tom or Jim Devlin could clarify it.

Hi,
I've just noticed plynch57 has posted 21 songs from 1979 on youtube.

All the best,
merton
PS Maybe Leonard will return to play at the National Stadium in 2013. Now that would be this side of intimacy
