Interesting piece - thanks for posting.

I've always been a little bit fascinated by that album and the circumstances surrounding it's production. And I don't think it's a as bad as some people make out - patchy, yes, but a couple of the songs work well enough, and I absolutely love "True Love Leaves No Traces." Perhaps the "aural soup" works to the song's advantage on that one....

I love Doalm. As a portrait of the male psyche in freefall, it really can't be beat.

Btw, this article is part of a series of short studies of various songs from across the decades. As is evident from this particular article, the writer is a musician himself, and, it seems to me, quite a gifted scribe too. The other articles are also available online and highly recommended.
