I think many, including myself, will disagree with you there. I prefer many of your interpretations to the originals.

This time Geoffrey I will have to strongly disagree with you (not like me at all ;-) )! You are totally wrong about that! …Your you tube videos are always emotive and a pleasure to listen to, as many people have said in their comments, and you would be sorely missed if you stopped posting them…
We all need a little music in our lives, whether it’s for comfort or escape, or any other reason that comes to mind, and sometimes it’s good to share that! …

Every performer needs to take a break some time; I hope this is just you taking a break!
Take care G

thank you lizzie, cate & karren. my problem is that i miss people when they are not near. i wonder if some of us feel departure stronger than is normal, am not sure - but i have experienced that talking about sorrow is tougher for some than others. i feel like a dove circling around looking for a safe place to land, but can't find anywhere - and fatigue is becoming a heavy cross. it's never been my nature to hurt anyone, but i did so, did exactly that. it wasn't my fault. i couldn't help it. three sisters so close and glad in each other, and i loved them dearly. one of them died, and my job as their father was to tell the other two. it still remains impossible for me to go anywhere in the vicinity of that memory and hold onto any tears. today i have learnt how to laugh again, have fun and joke around. maybe time does heal, for some people - but not everyone. to me, all it does is spread some kind of foundation cream over a scar.

Dear geoffrey ~ All I can tell you is that this is an area in which we are very sadly so similar. I've never dealt well with loss... any loss... and the closer, the harder, and the longer, neverendingness. Your heart simply doesn't have a safe place to land right now. Laughing and joking around just aren't the same as true, deep down healing. They're coping mechanisms, but that's really not the same. They may be markers on the path, but you're definitely not there, yet. It's not the destination. For now, you remain a sad old man in your heart. Time may alter that... or it may not... you will know, and only you will know, as much time passes. You were and have been a wonderful father to your beautiful three daughters. Your and their loss has been unbearable. Your pain is immense. Your healing is your own. It's so important to not measure yourself alongside others, as you try to find your way through this maze.

Your renderings are often preferable to me over the originals, as well... and I still hope for a Christmas cd from you.

Love,
L

P.S. I love you for who you are.

thank you, dear karren and lizzie, for this lovely song and message - also for the PM. I don't know how to respond, other than maybe share a scene i sometimes look at, showing a person receiving a hug after carrying a scar for something that was never their fault. xxx

.. Hi G.

.. I've not yet gotten a hold of this book, but I should, as its title comes up for me so often. It's Alice Walker's

The Way Forward is with a Broken Heart

.. maybe it's to say that one doesn't--well, set about to "heal." There is something of a relief, maybe, in not having to do anything in that regard. One gets on with things. One takes along one's broken heart in this, as well. Healing may come. As Lizzy said, it may not, even. But, hopefully, there are good moments. Days, even. And maybe one day things feel "lighter," and who knows why. Maybe some of the sorrow is lifted from you, even though there will always be loss.. which is as it should be, I think. To miss those we've lost, which is to say that life has meaning, then. That those we love will always have value and meaning.

with love,

v i o l e t x

keep your scars – they’re beautiful and far more interesting then ‘flawless’ covered up skin. You’ve suffered the type of pain that seems wrong – like somehow the universe missed a step and everything slid to the right. I can’t imagine Geoffrey.

I really liked what Karren said in previous post about time, she said (and I hope she doesn’t mind me quoting her )
Time cannot heal or ease pain
It cannot change the past
Its only relevance is now; then it’s gone.
that seemed very true. I also really liked what Violet said (and said so well) about taking a broken heart with you.
In regards to hurting people, of course I don’t know your specifics, but we all hurt people we care for. We all say things that hurt, we all do things that hurt. Sometimes we know that we are causing pain (well – me anyways) but we’re lost in that moment and continue despite that inner voice that’s telling us to Stop. Other times hurting that person was the very last thing we’d ever want, but still – it happens.

quote from that other Bob
“The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.”
