My absent valentine

Post by Karren B »

My Absent Valentine

I wake in the morning and stretch out my hand,
it falls on a lonely and cold empty space.
I turn to your picture and try to remember
when you last touched my body and felt my embrace.

The phone starts to ring but I cannot answer.
I know what the voice on the end wants to say,
‘I want to be with you but I cannot do it,
but bear with me darling we’ll get there one day’!

The words are familiar I’ve heard them so often.
I want to believe them and feel that they’re true,
but here in my heart I know it won’t happen
no matter how deeply I’m in love with you.

You see you don’t need me; your life isn’t too bad,
you always got through it before without me.
And if you are honest I am just a habit
that’s meant to be broken and then you’ll be free.

So let’s raise a glass and climb into a bottle,
and put on a smile so that no one will know…
Then it’s just one more bottle and a two minute silence
for a dream that was lovely, but not meant to be so…

Maybe hophead or Geoffrey could put a few chords to this??

this is about someone already in a relationship, is it not, karren? in any case, they appear weak, and probably not for you. it isn't good to allow yourself to be mistreated in such a way. a person of passion will move heaven and earth to be with the one they want. gx

Now Geoffrey what makes you think I’d be silly enough to get involved with someone already in a relationship?????...

OK so you are r…, you are ri…, you are rig…, oh do I have to say it??????? You know I never agree with you…it just wouldn’t be right! There’s this thing called pride you know…Though if I admit it’s not much of a consolation !...and it won’t keep me warm at night.

There is only one thing I ever ask in my life and that is Honesty! It is so nice to experience that!
maybe I just want a happy ending?

You are on the right track, just not the right train. Keep living. Keep loving. Keep giving.

Thats a good line Geoffrey but sometimes so much stuff gets in the way and it doesn't seem quiet so simple. Now I could be wrong

it wasn't that bad, and I doubt that it was aimed at you anyway.

still, maybe Karren should apologise as you do seem to be super-sensitive.

I pray that the 3 of you can put this unfortunate incident/poem behind you.

 Karren is a very giving being... I have a feeling we may get through this, even if it may take some therapy.

Thank you all for your comments...I've always said this place is better than therapy, and a lot cheaper!

What did you do for Valentines Day Fisfish?...Many paying clients?... Or do you just do charitable cases on Valentins Day. Maybe you just had one of your sandwiches! ;-) xx

Perils of driving a computer under the influence of alcohol!

Post by Karren B »

Most of you from the back room of the forum know that I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve, so I think you expect me to be honest no matter what, but……..

If you ever want to post a poem when you are feeling vulnerable and down, and you have had a few glasses of very good red, then it might be a good idea to do it in draft and then look at it the next day when you've regained most of your faculties! Cate once told me to always do the math before I post…maybe this is an instance when I should have taken notice of that…. But in my defence my gran always said there is no one as honest as someone who has had a few too many drinks….well actually what she really said was ‘There is no one as honest as a child or a drunk’!...

Just to set the record straight, my Absent Valentine did turn up in the end (even if it were a couple of days late) But I don't want you to think badly of him...Or him me, for writing the poem in the first place.
We did have a wonderful day together and we both hope to spend many more that way...But as Lonndubh pointed out, things are never that simple or straight forward. And I know I have to be patient (not one of my greatest attributes)!

And to My Valentine… I know things aren’t always as simple as they seem, but then if life were that simple it would probably be quite boring. And you know I am far from boring!!!
Do I have to change my avatar back???????? I thought you loved those boots ;-)

I really like the honesty of this poem. We all do what we must do to get through. Judgement is for jerks, I hope this works out in your favor.
