can I check please- you have not copyrighted this poem. the other day I was walking in Tornto and I was attacked by a large bear. it was about to eat me when Cate scared it off by looking at it with a strange face. for sure, Cate saved my life and I was just about to say "Thank you Cate" when I remembered that you always copyright your work. I guess this time you simply forgot so I played safe and didn't say a word to Cate. I am now concerned that she will think I'm rude and I wonder if you would let me tell her in bed later how grapefruit I am for her preserving my pointless existence.

I’m sorry Fish,
I have a confession, that - wasn’t really a bear. it was a fellow in a fur coat and wooly hat and I thought he was going to give you a coupon to beaver tails (which oddly serves pastry, not meat) but I’m trying to eat less sugar and they sprinkle a ton of sugar on their stuff and then cover it with icing and I knew that you would offer to share … so I gave him my best glare, my squintiest, dartiest eyes … which, as you pointed out, caused him to run.
I’m sorry that I told you that he was a bear. I know that fish are naturally afraid of bears and just wanted to impress you. Please stop telling people that I sleep with a grapefruit though, that is a secret and besides we are very much in love.
