Post by lightning »

If anyone wants a copy of DRGs newly released Infiniment a Jacques Brel 2 CD set with my own condensed translations and liner notes, I can get it for memebers of this board for cost plus shipping. It's a "best of" plus 5 unreleased songs, 11 unreleased tracks. Check out Amazon or the All Music Guide for further description. Send me a private message if interested.

Lightning, I already have that CD and a couple of others.

I love Jacques Brel, and first discovered him through listening to Scott Walker.

I would love to read your translations.

I was thoroughly enjoying listening to Jacques as I wrote to Lightning regarding my receiving "Infiniment." I've now heard it all :D 8) . Ending the first cd with Ne Me Quitte Pas [correct words and spelling ?] was great ~ it leaves you in just the right mood to put on the second one. Then, the celebration of Amsterdam that begins the second one ~ ahhh, perfect!

I haven't had the chance to read her interpretations [over an hour was spent in other tasks, and then it was time for bed]. Probably today, I'll get the chance to read them. For last night, I was just listening. Beautiful! I love the photo of him with his hands outstretched. It really captures his joy.

I love the way Lightning so effortlessly brought Leonard and Jarkko into the mix, in her own credits. I was stunned and thrilled to see that. I laughed when I read someone's mention of her interpretations as being extensive and thought, "Not as damn extensive as they could have been!" [per her preference]. However, it does appear that a lot still got said about the songs by her ~ definitely brought the core of the songs to the reader and listener.

I've listened, once through, to what I've dubbed, "The Missed-Head Lament" ~ by Jeffrey Lewis [talked about previously here somewhere]. He really nails the ego challenges that go on between men; and what was he thinking to not have gotten the head first, and written the song later  !?! What a shy one...... I thought it was great to see that Tuli from The Fugs is one of his own heroes .
