I'm the author of Everything Is an Afterthought: The Life and Writings of Paul Nelson. A legendary critic and editor for Rolling Stone, Nelson was one of Leonard Cohen's earliest critical allies. Not only is Cohen referenced and quoted throughout the book, but one of the chapters is devoted to two of Nelson's reviews: "Leonard Cohen's Creative Bloodshed" (about New Skin for the Old Ceremony from The Village Voice; and "Leonard Cohen's Doo-Wop Nightmare" (about Death of a Lady's Man from Rolling Stone).
