Tom, this is nice to read something like you wrote about the discreet and talented Sharon Robinson (she even don't have a web site as far as I know).
I'm tired to read a critic about her that is false, first, about the use of the synthetiser in TNS. For the final product, she wanted to use "real" (what it is that because it is not ancient a synthetiser is not as real as an other) music instruments, he did not want.
He said that it was when he meet her one day that it became clear to him that he should go back on Boogie Street. Ten New Songs is an album that I'm listening for 3 years now with equal pleasure (after I get used to the coldness of the synt., I must say). Everybody knows is a wonderful song.
All the fans must thank her on their knees if you ask me.
And do we hear her say something about the great part she took in LC's works? No. Never. Not a word. Talking about sublime silence...
lizzytysh, you are need of what I think of this album (even if I did not hear it yet). It seems to me that he gave more room to the poet like he wandered in his time. Like a way to say goodbye. To the songs. But Ey! we are looking for another. Book.

I meant "near" not "need"
Just a little P.S. about Pico Iyer. I was sharing the feelings of Natalie about the notes for "The Essential", which was the only one, as far as I know, that commented the note. I only like the last paragraph of the note, then.
For Dear Heather I read here and there (as I'm going everywhere) about the fact that he may have disguised his dislike of the album under nice words, which I don't think so. It seems to me that everybody was so excited and/or in a hurry when the note shows, that they failed to carefully listen to what Pico Iyer was peacefully saying in sequences of images that speak to the emotion as well as the intellect much like Leonard Cohen can do (but did not feel the third part (body) in Pico's note). 'A little bit sad, because this time I think that Iyer did a good job, worth to be mule over.

Hi Tchocolatl
you're my man! You said everything I am trying to say and I'm thinking about Sharon, and as for her site, well, I am collecting all I can find to make little page under my&Jurica's LC's Croatian site (The sad thing tis that there's nothing expect her picture and list of her songs on Files, and the same page copied to TNS site). I know this story about how LC decided not to replace all her working versions of the songs and her vocals with real band - well, I guess he simple understand what jewel she is
Username - de gustibus not disputandum. (The worst thing is that it seems I am against her, and I really like Anjani, but I like Sharon more. I am some kind of heretic telling around that Jennifer isn't the best thing that happened to LC, but Sharon on TNS and Anjani - I simply can't tell how much I adore bootlegs from 1985 tour, and what the hell, best duets of Joan Of Arc were with her in 1985 and with Sharon in 1980, and it's great to have the both ladies here).
I really like Go No More A-Roving, actually the way in which LC tipically sings it (On first hearing I really wasn't really impressed, I dismissed it like TNS outtake). And Nightingael - well really, I can't find Leonard there? Is it his voice from mid-70s? Which voice is also there except his strange vocal and Anjani? Is that sinthisized male vocal? The song itself is little to upbeat, but nice, except those strange production with male vocals (there are some suspicious opinions on that!) (PS: On Anjani's site they said it's Anjani who wrote the music on Leonard's 30 or 40 years old poem.)
And why the fake name??? Please, next time sign yourself, especially you're the first one I see from Montreal. (If you're Anjani or her relative, you can send me private mail
)
Lizzytysh - I know Henning didn't say that, I just had to reply on this view on Sharon. Which, sadly, goes further. Yesterday I found some responses o Croatian sites illegaly reviewing mp3 downloaded DH. It seems that 3 Sharon-tracks are the maximum number which can be accepted by some people. Everybody's happy about album (except one who attacked Tennessee Waltz saying that "it sounds like they played it on my aunt's wedding
)
