Smoking Uncle

The altars are renewed
Are made imperishable
Impregnated by boiler pressure
Garnished with salt
An hommage to this world
For the sake of the gold

Nevertheless is a word
Which expresses resistance
The wars never escape us
The blood runs down persevering
The children starve
Nevertheless - we give birth

There’s an ugly chimney in each city
Called “Smoking Uncle”
Its enduring output of transformed something
Resembles the result of the endless effort
In the heat of burning lips
To supply this rocking boat with angels

There’s a shy deer in the distant meadow
Called “Happiness”
It’s world famous for its temporary presence
It makes a human believe
It makes a lame bird sing
It makes a morning dawn
