I looked away
The moment passed

Written on my sympathy card

Don't send me flowers
Don't tell me lies
Don't take too long
When you say your goodbyes
I've got to keep my wits about me before I let down my guard
Lying in state without mourners
They just sent me a sympathy card

I pushed you too long
I pushed too long
Now you've left me repositioned
Down towards all that I've done wrong
I asked for too much
I asked too much
Those who are left are now left homeless
Those who are guilty have now been judged

A simpler day
A happy time
Our shared past
Your memory behind
There were never enough cool evenings to make up for the cold nights
I told you too many times I loved you but never showed that it was right
We're old enough to be realistic and know we're not forever scarred
But that doesn't help me right now
