Wow! I am truly honoured. Ok I was busted and you know its my birthday now but I am overwhelmed by the lovely messages. Even Joe, who has only posted 12 comments came on to say Happy Birthday to me. I am really touched.

Thank you all. I was in work all day today but I am home now and I intend to have a glass of wine or 2 this evening.... and yes Henning , lots of cake too. I have a few months to get fit :)

It was a great year since my last birthday. I spent some time with Mr Cohen. I got to Kracow to meet my lovliest friends. My fave football team won their championship. Met my son and grandaughter again after not seeing them for 3 years!

If the coming year has a few moments as good as this I dont mind being a year older. I cannot wait to meet you all again in September.

Lots of love to you all

belated birthday wishes Tinds! You must be exhausted after all those hippies and the President. Coming Back to You was better than LC's version, Mr L.

cheers Tinds I'm fine. I can't see me in Germany but I still haven't given up all hope. If I fail to make it, there's always the thread and the photos to believe in:-)

This is terrible news Diane . I must have missed your post earlier if you said you would be absent from Germany . Surely it cannot be right that one of the founding fathers ( or should that be mothers ) will not be attending this event .If it is because there are no mountains then I am sure Henning can arrange to have one built before September . With a little train on it of course !
Happy days

thanks Phil x. The possibility ain't dead until the fat lady sings, as they say (although I had her sing in another thread last night). At the very least, I will write a tragic poem.

Oh my - I know that the mountain issue will be held against me. How about showing a video of the alps ? No ?

Henning some issues are best left unspoken, in the same way that we were always careful to avoid mentioning the eggs after Barmouth.

Only now I realize that I have to come up with some details to make this trip sound more interesting.

On our first walking tour on September 16 we will pass the house where Sir Paul McCartney stayed overnight for the occasion of the first public exhibition of his paintings.
You are allowed to take photos. It is really a small place in a small village and it is said that Paul had a walk in the evening and none of the locals did recognize him
It was the time when he was in grief about Linda's death so I assume he prefered to stay incognito.

We will pass that place on Friday September 16 - 10.50 a.m.

Just to avoid confusion: The second LC walking tour will not focus on height but on precision. We will have accurate time tables. Spontaneous breaks like pee pauses are reserved for other countries. This is organized by Germany Tours and they know only one stop: The final destination. I am sure we will have fun at the parties though.
