Bob Dylan to tour in Australia

Post by B4real »

For those interested here are a couple of links to Bob Dylan touring Australia next month in April.

The press release for the just announced 2011 Bob Dylan tour starts with a series of quotes under the heading "recent acclaim for Bob Dylan".

Which seems a little unnecessary. Possibly the most revered human being in the history of music (even the Beatles were in awe), Bob Dylan is a figure that will loom large over the art form long after he, I and you are dust. And with the man regularly disassembling his most loved songs, unearthing lost cuts and generally playing whatever the hell he feels like playing on the night, he remains more punk than most any other headline act today. With all that in mind: why wouldn't you want to see him?

Already announced as the headliner for the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival and the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival, Dylan will now embark on a four date arena tour of Australia in April. Tickets for all shows go on sale Monday 31st January at 9am.

It is interesting to note that when Leonard toured here Paul Kelly appeared with him on some occasions and was introduced as the Australian Leonard Cohen. Now when he is also appearing with Bob he is being quoted by some sources as the Australian Bob Dylan. Seems it is all in the eye (ears) of the beholder!

As far as Bob Dylan's singing these days goes, I myself prefer his earlier voice and songs.

Maybe Bob saw how successful Leonard was here and thought.......well

Bob Dylan will be joined by Imelda May, Christy Moore, The Waterboys, The Undertones, The Saw Doctors, Nanci Griffith, and The Fureys at this year's London Feis on Saturday 18th June in London's Finsbury Park.
I went to The Fleadh in 2004, and though the rain (and Ronnie Wood) nearly ruined it, Christy Moore and John Prine were great.

The Travelodge in City Road isn't too far away and have rooms for £63
