On a more positive note , Lisa... this region really has a wide variety of land forms... some really rocky, but then there are meadows and mountains, jagged cliffs, and lovely ponds, lakes, and streams; and there's an oceanic body of imagination that gets dipped into fairly often, too. You're right that it's not "Leonard," per se, but what you're seeing may be a bit of the old-timer's syndrome. Many have been here before it was even a dream approaching reality that Leonard might tour... so following his tour's performances wasn't even an option. People got to know each other in various ways, and like some [most?] siblings, even fought from time to time. That aspect has gone missing for the most part, for which we're grateful, but you'll still see feigned hard feelings from time to time. Seeing violet's recap of her posting, I can see where it was hardly good fare, more innuendos than preferable... but if you explore a bit or just hang around a bit or even stop in from time to time, you'll find many beautiful thoughts, beautifully expressed, and a serious caring between participants. They do try to improve each other's writing, though. I don't engage in that aspect because I can't write poetry worth a hoot... all I know is what I like/don't like and can tell you why, either direction. And do sometimes. The people themselves, though... that matters... and they are really really good ones. It can maybe take awhile to see that, depending on where you drop in. Don't throw the fish out with the fish water, though. Or try not to... or at least give it a try to not to.

Re: My Second "Moderator" Complaint
Pretty strange... I'll BET it doesn't happen often. As you said, storms? Fish at least tend to know where they're at... they didn't mention that these fish often look for shelter during storms. I know we've had some severe ones on the east coast, but don't recall any recent reports of ones this severe on the west.
[I know... groooooan... those coping mechanisms... you know how they can be.]
One seal overheard barking to another: "Feel like pizza tonight?"'Seals are gorging themselves' while leftovers are removed, dumped in bin.
. . .
Officials are looking for reasons why millions of dead anchovies and sardines turned up in a Redondo Beach harbor.

Re: My Second "Moderator" Complaint
.. [ignoring L.'s coping mechanism]..
How dare you call it "innuendo!".. it was all crap. [un, carp] In my defense, though, the original was a lot better, I think, than my recap-- uh, carp.lizzytysh wrote: Seeing violet's recap of her posting, I can see where it was hardly good fare, more innuendos than preferable...
Anyway, for what it's worth, I still think fish is funny.. sorry.. [can't help it]

Re: My Second "Moderator" Complaint
What? You could have at least chuckled at my coping... at least my visual was funny, anyway.
And how fast can a seal gorge? Unless they plan to take the bins and turn them into fertilizer, they oughta scoop or net 'em into the bins, load them back up on boats, and take them to where the seals hang out. Recycle, I say. And thought Californians did, too. So maybe they'll end up fertilizer. [Poor, hungry seals.]
Well, innuendos can be carp, too! And they were. I hold to that. Sorry [not really]. But, then, I didn't see your original. Admittedly.

Re: My Second "Moderator" Complaint
Lizzy, I actually took the time to break up your quote. (I hope you're happy now)..
Now, the above cluster of verbiage, is fairly snappy. I think you're getting better as you go along.. and I am training you all here to make good use of brackets, I see.. [quite a racket, the bracket racket] [though I'm fairly certain we're mostly using them incorrectly] [which satisfies, actually]lizzytysh wrote: Well, innuendos can be carp, too! And they were. .. okay.. what you are noting here, is that I'm actually a bit disturbed by this fish massacre, as it happens.. now, if we were talking about a Bugs Bunny episode, it would be different.. but.. that's A LOT of dead fish, isn't it???.. so this is not the best material for you to be trying out your Groucho improv on me.. I'm too distracted by the dead fishies..lizzytysh wrote: What? You could have at least chuckled at my coping... at least my visual was funny, anyway.
.. okay, hate to bring this up, but I'd be worried for those seals.. I mean, they don't even know what killed the anchovies, and now the poor seals are eating them!.. [well, at least they're not using those mystery anchovy corpses for pizza].. [gad]lizzytysh wrote: And how fast can a seal gorge? Gosh, I really have learned something on this thread: something stinks in Denmark, and it ain't just fish.
later note: okay, having watched the video material now, it seems there was a red tide that had these [million or more] anchovies and sardines [mostly] pouring into the marina where, apparently, their numbers caused them to be short on oxygen. That sounds a bit more likely than "a storm," at least.. [poor 'lil fishies]

Oh dear,
I am not able to write poetry, but love to read it and sometimes pop in just to see, what´s going on ...
Now I will drown my poor intellect in some hard liquor
and never know, what this was all about or who the fish is ...
