A hint on mailing cash that someone told me some time ago is to wrap the bills in carbon paper, as then the bills cannot be seen via the x-ray machines. You should be able to get carbon paper [the older ones here remember what that is, for making copies when you use a typewriter  ] at an office supply store.

I just got back from holiday, and thought I had missed this  but when I checked the link there were still some spares left, and I think I just got in  . So if you haven't ordered yours yet, don't be despondent - click on the link quick before they're all gone!

Better Late than never or something like that. I lurk around here alot and was sad last year when I missed his reply to all the well wishers.
Will we start a thread to say our hello again this year or have I not searched hard enough?
Hope mine made it in at this very last moment, thanks so much for all your work Jarkko, your dedication is to be respected.
Peace,

It is my plan to open a new thread for birthday greetings
on the Forum. Let's wait a week or so and then start. Our
stamp/postcard project has been very successfull - over 300
contributors, and soon also the last extra pieces have been
reserved. I will close the project tomorrow, on Friday, latest.

Leonard Cohen 70

Post by Maarten »

Hello,

It's been almost a year since I visited this forum. The last time was when Leonard Cohen became 69... I promise to visit more often, especially because I found out there is another Cohen gathering in Hydra and one coming up in Berlin aswell! Thank God for this forum! I'll defenitely try to be there!

But most importantly: thank you Jarkko for the great idea about Leonard Cohen's birthday present!

Best regards,
Maarten

To all: I had to close the birthday registration today. My previous
message generated so many contributions today that all the
extra stamps and cards ordered for latecomers were reserved,
and now there is nothing in stock any more. 320 Cohenites
sent their B-day wishes (and presents) to Leonard, and they
all are going to receive the Cohen stamp on the B-day postcard!
[hehe, Eija promised to write names and addresses on the cards
before we knew how many there will be :P ]

 :o A lovely idea indeed, and a wonderful keepsake for us as well. An arresting and haunting photograph by Anjani. I just pre-ordered Dear Heather from amazon.com, and ordered one of Anjani's as well.

Thanks Jarkko!

Indeed, what a wonderful idea and reality ( :

I am only sorry I've just heard about it! (I've been sick - after being bitten by a spider. Bizarre, but scary.)

It's a terrific inspiration, Jarkko! Hooray for all the contributors, and the birthday boy :D

apparently it's not as unusual an occurrence as one might imagine - having lived my entire life to this point without being poisoned by a spider's bite, I didn't realize what had happened, until my calf swelled up in intense pain, and I became "spaced out" and ended up in emergency at the island hospital here; as is almost apparently the norm in such situations, the spider got away lol; that is, the bite was not noticed until the reaction; so, the professional view is that it's either a Brown Recluse or a Hobo spider (somewhat romantic names - makes me think of them riding the rails, perhaps playing harmonica); when I got back home, I spotted a dark brown spider with a lighter brown violin-shaped design on its back - and that is, I believe, one of those two types - but, it's also possible that I am now becoming paranoid... not entirely without cause!

hehe

I'm laughing now, but, it was not funny a day or so ago. Now I simply have a very sore leg that is extremely itchy. And, I'm glad I'm healthy overall.

I had never heard of a Brown Recluse spider. I just looked at a web site and looking at the pictures of people who have been bitten you were lucky not to lose a body part  I hate spiders!!!!!!
