Keith James - Songs of Leonard Cohen tour
I have just spoken to someone who highly recommends going to watch this gentleman doing his tribute to Leonard Cohen. He is touring most parts of the UK and the concert dates are on this link, click on "concerts" when you get to the homepage:

This is the guy who has previously been doing Nick Drake...not for me these cover thingies!
Re: Keith James - Songs of Leonard Cohen tour
I have seen Keith James a few times and would recommend going along if you can.He is a very talented musician.
He plays acoustic guitar and is sometimes accompanied by Rick Foot on double bass - though on this current tour I think he is alone.
He has toured the songs of Nick Drake, John Martyn, Tim Buckley,Joni Mitchell, Neil Young,Leonard Cohen (The Great Canadian Songbook tour), Davy Graham, Sandy Denny, Bob Dylan, Suzanne Vega, and has put some of the poems of Federico Garcia Lorca, and Pablo Neruda to music.
Of course not everyone likes cover-versions;they often elicit strong views from fans. But I'm a firm believer this is the essential way to 'keep songs alive' and Keith James does this very well indeed. http://www.keith-james.com/news_archive.php
All good stuff!

Thanks, Davido. I am going to see Keith for the first time at Canterbury. Also, he is doing a normal show in Broadstairs, where I live.

We went to see him & Rick Foot a couple of years ago & he is well worth seeing if he comes to your area. We will probably see him somewhere on this tour.

I'm going to see him 14th May, at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen.
Any excuse for a night out.
His cover versions can't be as bad as mine (ie: me singing/droning along to LC cd in the car).

I saw him last Sunday and can certainly recommend him. If you go, say the "officianado" from "The Waiting Room, Eaglescliffe" recommended him!

Hi Anne, yes, I am from Middlesbrough but live in Norton now! Strangely enough, my mother was born and bred in Leeds!

Thought about going to the Keith James gig in Edinburgh tonight, but didn't, would be interested to hear from anyone who attended. Ripping Records said there were plenty of tickets available. Looking forward to the Webb Sisters in May at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh.
