Thanks for explaining
While you dreamt it was raining
Your game known sometimes as "rules"
We have "league" and we've " union"
To complete the confusion
But the posh "union" stuff is for fools
But please tell me this
A point if you miss
What kind of scoring is that
If this was in cricket
With each Aussie wicket
You would always win with the bat
Twenty two on one team
I can't possibly dream
Of a game where so many take part
All scrumming together
In scorching hot weather
Would cause chaos at the drop of a f...
But it must be a winner
For it's not a beginner
As you say one fifty years going
But I can't see the day
When the world starts to play
For you've never tried it when snowing
But thank you my friend
For now I intend
To google this sport you adore
Then who knows if we play
You might one day say
With the poms we have just wiped the floor
Memory

Re: Memory
Yorkshire Lad it's a pity
I've gone into the city
A place of four million or so
But I'm gonna be watchin'
The match you'll be botchin'
Direct on the satellite show!
I want to say thanks
As I stroll Yarra's banks
This past week I was kicked in the guts
Domestic life sad
Real bloody bad
It has tested my faith in the just
You kept up my spirits
A diversion of limits
I forgot what it was just to laugh
I really say, "Peace Lad"
For the friendship we've had
It held me together in part
I think I must tell
If you google AFL
Also check out the action on you-tube
This game is the best
Forget the unrest
The occasional hit and/or blue

Re: Memory
It's ten past ten
We beat you again
I say the score's about two-nil
We need two more
You've gotta get four
It's a fight for our lives and our free will
Now I ain't boasting
But the Aussies are coasting
Marsh he hit a bit more than a ton
The English seem tired
You know the umpires are wired
But technology can't kill the sun
So tell me ol' Yorkshire
I've got nothing to fear
Do you care about us and the Universe?
Or do you close your eyes
To the truth say, "Bye-byes"
I bet you're so moved like a Cohen-verse
I'm not being picky
I'm just chewing my bicky
These questions are always a mess
Won't eat fairy-floss
My code name is Boss
Ask me anything I will confess
Back to more boredom
Our lives are so seldom
I'm forty-two watching the time
You're a good bloke
I'd die for a Coke
I can see the end of this rhyme
It kind of crept up
Cordial in my cup
The shop is too far for my legs
I'm thinking of brekky
I'll lie on the settee
When I wake up I'll have scrambled eggs
We beat you again
I say the score's about two-nil

Re: Memory
Two posts at a time
And by golly they rhyme
Steady on I just cannot keep up
I was sorry to hear
The good times ain't here
Pull a pint and just a have a good sup
For you beat us at cricket
On a perfect wicket
So it'sI who should be in the dumps
Oh and I 'll give you a tip
Let the groundsman take a trip
With a roller to iron out the lumps
That's not a complaint
But it made me feel faint
Watching your bowlers do well
So not to be out done
And because your team won
I am posting two posts as well

Bitter loss I just have tasted
This day my dear Boss you must sieze
And I can drink it or I can nurse it
But it’s no good just to curse it
I’ll be humble
And get on my knees
We knelt there in old Hobart
While the Aussies made a good start
On an island surrounded by seas
Then a message with which to grapple
From a so called Ian Chappell
Told me batting was simply a tease
But Boss I had waited
So long for a miss
For excitement to happen
But please not like this
Now I’m weak and I’m harmless
And I’m sleeping without calmness
And the winds going wild in the trees
And it isn’t exactly prison
But you’ll never be forgiven
For bringing us down to our knees
Your cricket was disgraceful
So perfect it was hateful
And they bowled with their arms all at ease
So please gloat if you must
I won’t harbour mistrust
Next time we will win in a wheeze

Re: Memory
You have the knack
Reckon I'll give you that
How d'ya know it was "Light as the Breeze"?
A favourite song
I've loved her that long
But there ain't no more wild in them trees
The northern gale gone
Just like a black swan
It has dipped its head in the drink
She's why I'm down
I really hate clowns
Now I feel like the damned missing link!
I won't get too deep
The others may peep
I think I will write of ol' Oz
It's warm here in time
Twenty-five, twenty-nine
There's humidity too, just because
I would like to meet
Those blokes on First Fleet
They landed on Jan twenty-six
Seventeen eighty-eight
Our 'Aussie Day' mate
But they've got it all wrong, they are p----s
This grand country
And this includes me
Should have something that's all representative
Aborigines, Greeks
So many do seek
To express all their views but they're tentative
For we are not young
Thousands of years in the sun
The Blackfella' he holds the key
The poms have been here
About two hundred years
'Cos they could sail all their ships on the sea
Now on your sig
There's a merry old jig
That perfection has nowhere to go
But a nation should
As much as it would
Cater for everyone head down to toe
It would give us pride
Some 'ticker' inside
We could right the wrongs of the past
But we'd still play cricket
On uneven rough wickets
We'd believe in ourselves at long last

Re: Memory
Okay Boss you win
I will have to give in
I cannot keep up with your posting
While I sit and struggle
With my brain in a muddle
You give the impression your coasting
So what do you say
If we call it a day
At least till my brain cells recover
That won't be too long
Till I'm back on song
Then again we can post one another
You have taught me some things
And the knowledge it brings
So I thank you for that my old mate
So now when they ask me
Whats my favourite country
Australia is up for debate
And although I say pause
Lets include a clause
That says this will not be the end
Just a delay
Till i've something to say
From within my heart to defend
So I'll keep in touch
But not quite as much
Less frequent my thoughts I will send
I hope you don't mind
I am not being unkind
For I'm proud to call you my friend
I will have to give in

Re: Memory
That’s okay, Phil. It was becoming a bit much on my side of the Equator, too. It was fun.
