The Boys weekend
The boys are on a weekend jaunt, they’re planning to have fun,
They’re in the car… then on a plane…the weekend has begun.
The airplane lands, their lift arrives to take them where they’ll stay.
They unpack bags and freshen up and then it’s time to play.
They find a bar, a betting shop, they’ll soon be skulling pints.
Another trek from bar to bar, a quick look at the sites.
And soon they’re drawing quite a crowd, creating quite a throng,
Two guys pop up like mere cats, just to see what’s going on.
Another drink… a bite to eat…back to the betting shop,
A few more laughs, a dirty joke, will these lads never stop?
They lay some bets, some even win, they feel the big one’s near,
They celebrate the Irish way and have another beer.
They all pile into Mulligans, the craic looks mighty good
A tray full of sambucas, and they’re in a playful mood.
One plays the harmonica, another plays guitar
They all try singing harmonies and music fills the bar.
There’s poetry recited, and Shakespeare quoted loudly
They laugh until their ribs could break, and toast each other proudly.
One guy pulled a lovely lass, he said she looked so fine.
Then found she was the local tranny, dressed up to the nines!
They started planning next years trip, excitement filled the air
They knew which bars they would frequent, and swore they’d all be there.
One guy had a good idea, ‘We should bring our wives,’ he said
Another cried, ‘Did you hear him? He’s off his fucking head!’
They left the bar and headed home in taxis filled to burst.
They know it’s late and time for bed, but have a small drink first.
Some climb the stairs on hands and knees and fall into their beds,
Still laughing at the day’s events still reeling in their heads.
It’s morning now, but only just… it’s breakfast and a shower,
All rush for the bathroom… read the paper for an hour!
The house is filled with laughter, they joke about the night before.
Head off to the nearest bar, and then the craic begins once more…
The weekends gone it’s time to go…so off to catch the plane,
Looking forward to next year, when they’ll be back again.
With tired eyes and happy hearts they head for boarding gates,
And count their many blessings for having such good mates!
Ok girls, when’s it our turn??????

The Boys Weekend
'Take the breath of a new dawn
And make it a part of you.
It will give you strength'
And make it a part of you.
It will give you strength'
Re: The Boys Weekend
Sounds like a brilliant weekend!!
Very well told Karren - I like the fast pass of it and am impressed at how you were able to keep the rhythm going throughout.

Re: The Boys Weekend
Thanks for the comments cate. Glad you liked it.
I know they had a good time but I suspect there were some rather green faces and some well-deserved headaches on that flight home!
And it was very nice of one of them to call me at 2.30am that Sunday morning, to tell me all about it (I won’t forget that one)!...
I like the word craic too…a good Irish word.
