Popularity of the name "Heather"

Post by lightning »

It seemed there were a lot of Heathers around. I decided to look on the net to find out just how popular the name was, that is, how many women were going to feel this album was addressed specially to them, and how many boyfriends were going to give it to their girl Heather. The name "Heather" has had its rise and fall. According to a sampling of social security cards issued in USA the name Heather was not on the list of top 1000 names for females born in the 1920's, there's no data for the 1930's but by the 1940's it ranked 585. In the 1950's it rose to 287, by 1960 , 127 and by the 1970's Heather was the 8th most popular name for baby girls in the USA. By the 1980's Heather was still blooming at number 10, then a decline began. It was 20th in the 1990's, and by 2003 it only ranked 208. The country was then sick and tired of "Heather." The highest concentration of Heathers should be between 15 and 35, exactly the right age for romantic flattery ( but what age isn't?). This points in the direction of good sales for the record. Follow-ups should be directed to "Jessica," "Jennifer", "Amanda" etc.
