If I were not going to Cambodia for a concert I would not choose to go to Phnom Penh for just two days in the middle of a hectic work period. I would go to Siem Reap and have enough days to explore Ankor.
The PR bs we have been fed and which you are lapping up is shameful. If no one dropped the ball Everyone dropped the ball. And that includes Cohen.
And I love how you have somehow made this the fans' fault for loving Cohen and wanting to see his show. The fans did not drop the ball. Cohen's team did.
Not sure why booking cheap flights at the last minute means you are independently wealthy. Anyone traveling from other places in SE Asia would likely not have paid more booking this week from booking in July when the concert was announced. When you book flights you are taking a risk so you have to manage that accordingly.
Nobody said it is the fans fault, that's a willful misinterpretation. And nobody is lapping up any PR BS, we are all dissapointed and frustrated. The announcement doesn't say much that's for sure but if you are so certain about everything you must know more than the rest of us unenlightened ones.
so now it is the fans' fault for being organized and booking our tickets and hotels in advance? Sorry we are not psychics and had no inkling that this very expensive concert would just be pulled out suddenly. if we had 'known' we wouldnt have purchased the concert tickets in the first place! phnom penh is really not a place i would choose to go, out of my own volition. the fact that i , and many others are going especially just for the concert says something about our loyalty as fans. it seems to me now however, that this loyalty is misplaced.
Incidentally Geoff, I booked my air tickets and hotel just a few days before the cancellation.
I even bought the concert tickets late (having learned about the concert late) and was both pleased and a little alarmed by how good the seats were. They were clearly not selling all that well.
I very much doubt many of us booked flights in July.
And the CD offer may be adequate recompense to you. To me, it is pathetic.
Incidentally, you misrepresented many people when you claimed they wanted their air tickets, etc refunded. I have not requested that, and neither have most others.

No, of course it's not the fans fault but why not reduce the risk by delaying outlay that you can't get back? Maybe I'm over careful but to me it's common sense that you don't spend on things like this until you have to.
I have a lot of sympathy, I really do; I was booked to go to this concert myself so I am also extremely dissapointed, not just a heckling bystander. I just think we could all learn a lot from the way that Mr Cohen reacted to the theft of most of has money a few years ago.
Unfortunately there are other rather awkward parallels to be drawn from that theft. Like being careful whom you trust. And LC isn't the only one who needs to put a nest egg away. I've just blown part of mine on a trip to Cambodia.
Well Gary, I agree it looks like you were pretty unlucky so I'm sorry about that.
I know nobody has asked that air fares/hotels be refunded but my point was why complain so much about being offered a CD? I couldn't really care less about the CD too but it's a gesture. What other gesture would make you feel better? Nothing I guess, there is no adequate recompense of course.
Reduce the risk of cancellation by buying last minute tickets and risk not getting a flight out? I'm sorry but the concert was more important to me than that. I would not have risked missing it for the world..
And I know what gesture would be better than a CD...Just a word of acknowledgment from LC and a real explanation please
... and still no announcement from Leonard's side, AEG or management. I would have thought they would have got something out by now but the last press release on Leonard's official website is dated October 1, announcing the Hawaii cancellation. Mind you, two consecutive cancellation, sorry cancellation & postponement, announcements would challenge even the most experienced PR team.
I think LC himself is to blame for this fiasco. I believe it was his idea to play in Phnom Penh as he probably hasn't been there and thought this location a novel idea at the time. I cannot believe that AEG alone would have come up with this location in Asia. No disrespect to Phnom Penh but surely Hong Kong, Signapore, Tokyo or even Shanghai would have been a better reliable bet.
Once arranged he should have been committed to it taking place and insisted to AEG that cancellation was not an option.
Worse still is that he has chosen not to offer a proper apology to his loyal fans.

Whilst I agree with many of your comments LHHUNTER, I think you rather underestimate the impact that a persistent local promoter can have. The suggestion is made, discussed with Leonard and one thing leads to another ....

No word from Jarkko since? The understandably angry people who have posted here clearly want a response from AEG and / or from LC Management. In the meantime a comment from Jarkko might be helpful?
Forget your perfect offering -
There is a crack in everything...

Hmm. Management had enough facts to cancel the concert on the one hand and express full faith in the local promoter on the other (at least according to the Mekong Sessions release).
