City
You stalked those streets with a rage that few knew
and that you had no desire to confess.
You expected certain wounds to heal, but they only grew
certain to fester and sicken rather than impress.
This city has shaped your perceptions, altered your form,
and has defined characteristics you’d rather not discuss.
Propelled through the years disturbed and prone to scorn,
bereft of a single instinct upon which you can trust.
Subject to an illusion of continual renewal that persists,
you wandered sun-consumed alleys seemingly for days.
The city teemed around you through a heavy, humid mist
that rendered landmarks of youth indistinct in the haze.
You are bound to illusions offering easy answers
to the disappointments suffered under the city’s unjust hand.
You suffer from inequities of spirit and malicious cancers
empowering themselves through weakness, betraying all demands.

Berlin?
Are you joking? First off, the German in me would LOVE Berlin, but, alas, I am a poor man, and going to Berlin, Germany is far, far out of my budget, sadly. I have a wish list of European cities I would love to see, and Berlin is near the top of the list. Maybe one day.

Of course I'm not joking
. With nearly two years to save......why not!?! With the current cost of cigarettes, if you're a smoker, just cutting a pack a week would do wonders. Other things, many other things, could be diverted, but yes, it would take commitment in that direction. How about a parttime job, with proceeds devoted exclusively to Berlin? I'm considering that route myself, since Hydra cropped up in between now and Berlin....and I want to do both.
