You're right, I am listening beatiful Burgenland bootleg in my mp3 player from yesterday, and that's what he says. I am correcting the lines above.

I'm completely in love with this song. So powerfull and moody. The only problem is, I think I've listened to it a bit too much.

I love this song so much that I have made a cd of every rendition that I can find from the concerts.

Well, that makes three of us. A year ago it was without direction and real structure, work in progress. Now it's a masterpiece.

Yeah, it works perfectly the way it is now. It'll be interesting to see whether it'll be like this on the album (if included). They've been playing it in it's current form for a while now, so maybe it's "ready".

EDIT: I just listened to the Moscow performance of this song and noticed it isn't exactly the same as the one they played in Helsinki, for example. So it's still evolving.

You can add me too. :D :D

Same with "Feels So Good." We have been witness to the progression from "bare bones" or "skeletons" to "masterpieces." The arrangements are beautiful and they all seem very comfortable with performances.

And then there is that other "masterpiece" - "Born In Chains.

Joey in his "Notes From The Road" mentions rehearsal of a "new number" at the sound check today. I wonder if (hope) it might make the show tonight. :D :D Whatever it is.

Meanwhile the song is a standard of the set. It helped me to solve a problem...
A girlfriend of mine died in 2009 (cancer). There were certain questions around her...
Her first boy friend got one, two three heavy heart attacks after she left him.... he was the first man in our German "Bundesland" who got a new heart. Her second boyfriend as well father of their 2 children went totally ill and died 2009. Another lover has the whole body full of painful rheumatism..... I seem to be the only healthy man in the game. How did all this happen? Lenny says it quite simple:

I caught the darkness
Drinking from your cup
...... ;-)

Nice to hear people so keen on the music of Leonard Cohen as me...I felt somewhat out of place at the concert I went along to in Auckland (October 29), undoubtedly being among the minority so familiar with all the works.

I absolutely loved this song, and have been struggling to find comprehensive lyrics or a studio version of it anywhere...anyone able to help?

Favourite line: "You see the present, not that pleasant, just a lot of things to do. I thought the past, would last me...but the darkness got that too."

Hi Second Hand Physique,

If you look at the previous page of this post, people have written out the lyrics, for your reading enjoyment!

This song has not yet been released on a studio album (hopefully it will be on the new one, hopefully out in 2011), so it is only available in "live" recordings. If you go to YouTube, you'll be able to find numerous videos of Leonard singing this song dating back to fall 2009 when he debuted it at some American shows.

It is certainly a great song, love to hear Cohen doing the Blues, he does it so well!

You'll find loads of information about Leonard and his music (and his poetry and his novels) here on this forum, as well as many people who adore him!

Cheers!
