pete…it’s obviously an institution that has embraced a more humane policy towards your ancestors and their fellow inmates... ….

.....despite the fact of only being out on a temporary licence myself I have to admit to being a little old fashioned in these matters and much prefer the days when these kind of places had bars on the windows…

......btw why did you airbrush out the sign in the car park?…as you can see I have now restored it for all to see…..ta ken

If you were into gifting Leonard, such a lovely one that dramatic and fitting photo would be.

Anyway, I've obviously descended from those who moved in high circles... thus 'High Needham' and nothing to do with illegal substances may I add...before you do :)

Can we take then Pete that your descendants lived in the three houses and the circles they moved in were crop circles on the farm .

Lizzy, I have been crying with laughter at the thought of you (of all people) sending Ken's"fitting"picture to Leonard.

It's nice to see you - hope you are well, and thank you:-)

On the contrary Pete I was merely trying to determine what kind of "space " you live in so I could treat your sitution with the "gravity " it deserves. But now I know you are living in a village with the prefix "high" it is probably safe to assume that you sometimes visit another planet in your quest for the meaning of life . This I can vouch for because I witnessed a cosmic experience with your group of spaced out travellers in Barmouth

Hi Diane ~

Well, I agree there would be a degree of irony in that; however, the photo I was referring to was the St. Leonard's Road one you took in your neighbourhood. Did Ken have a hand in that? Perhaps, I missed something in/about it. If so, well, irony prevails. Leonard still should have it. A beautiful photo.

I'm well... thanks :D . You, too, from all I can tell :) .

bernie...without any streets having been named after you (something i'm sure will soon be rectified) i know you have been feeling a bit left out of things around here recently...

...no city or town may have got around to honouring you with a street name in the same way as some of us around here have be honoured but at least dublin city council have at least recognised your presence by erecting warning notices in the street outside your house....ta ken

Dear YL ~

It is with poignancy and joy that I continue reading your poems. What I find most often is that I am moved to tears, by your insight, sensitivity, incredible range of topics, and your scope of observation with each one... and your selectivity of details to express all of these.

My reading intentionally did not begin until after I was home from Krakow and has been slow going, not because of my slow reading or any lack of interest, but rather that I feel compelled to read them in the most 'idyllic' setting I can manage. It may not qualify as that for others, but it's where I feel it's most comfortable and fitting for me to read them. The weather must be warm with sunshine and fresh air in the morning. I want to sit outside on my wooden, park bench and drink coffee as I read. I want to have plenty of time, so I won't feel rushed as I read. With my schedule, very few mornings have met this criteria. Even with time available, I also don't want to read them all at one sitting, the same as one ought not gobble a gourmet meal.

Your book of poems, YL, is one of the finest, personal gifts I've ever been given. Thanks to your son, its leather-'bound' presentation with thick, black string to tie them into a safe and protected space is perfection for what awaits inside. When I take the book in hand, its tactile beauty moves me. It feels ancient and precious and, not ironically, the poems are beautifully representative of realities that impact us all. When I read your poems, I get the same feeling I got reading the old-fashioned poems I read as a child sitting on the floor, from the bound collections of poetry that were on the bookshelves in the hallway upstairs. I feel transported to your wonderful mind and vast, internal and external lives. I am so deeply appreciative and grateful for your gift, a gift given to both me and Bernadine in Krakow. It truly is a gift of you.

When I first began reading, I responded to a couple poems. I also wrote a long PM to you [either before or after that ~ I don't recall which] and with a simple, strike on a wrong key [which I have yet to identify, except that it's somewhere on the lower left of my keyboard and has resulted in way many more than one loss of what I was writing to people]. As of this morning, I have reached page 75 and, when I have finished them all, I will write you privately with my responses to each one. Already, I have some that I want to share with others because they are so appropriate for their very particular situations. For now, just know that I find tears filling my eyes as I read many of them... the integrity of your thinking and your values beams through with honesty in every one.

Reading your poems, YL, makes me want to get to know better the person who wrote them. Reading them, my only regret is that I hadn't bypassed other issues to do that in Krakow. As is so often the case at large Events, there are often only fleeting moments to really connect with others. We tend to rush here and there for various reasons and, having talked and connected with so many people on the Forum, we can also become lost in trying to actually meet them with more time for something beyond an introduction and a hello... at least something more meaningful. I've already spoken privately with you regarding the deterrents that occurred there; yet, I'm grateful for the couple times we did connect, albeit briefly. If there's another time, I won't just let it go at that.

With love and many thank you's,
Lizzy

I am pleased you found the gift enjoyable . I find your praise of my work both gratifying and humbling but also a little embarrassing as I do not seek to promote them in any way . They are just a "diary " of a personnel journey in verse which I continue to do as and when I feel there is the need .
I look forward to your PM s with your opinions on each poem !
Kind regards
