Remembering Morning

Post by Everett Wade »

-Remembering Morning-

Love entered my life slowly
It did not overtake me
And shine on my heart
With some great illuminating breath
Nor did it come on some request of mine
But came quietly with slow prudent steps of its own.

Fingers of light poured through
The empty windows of my soul
Turning the dusts of the air to golden smoke
And slowly some kind of morning broke in me.

Love was everything.
It was the cool quiet breezes
That would flow across my skin
Soothing my exhaustion
And relieving my worries.
It was the sunlight that warmed me
When my spirit was cold with apprehension.

Immersed in something so real and true
I could not help but trust it.
And when my mind was not on myself
I found that even a small amount of love
Was enough to cover me.
But I had everything in my grasp

Then, love was everything.

Love left my life as slowly as it came
Lights started to dim.
At first, the unthreatening change
Was like a peaceful evening in the summer.

Night always follows.

The empty windows of my soul
Seem so much emptier than before.
And looking back I can't remember how true
Or how real the light that used to brighten my life was.

But I know this yearning deep inside me
This longing -- it cannot be quenched by something untrue.
Only the real thing will satisfy.

And because I cannot hope my longing will go away
I must hope that it will be filled.

Hello, dear Everett,

I love the gentle, slow movement and progression of your realization, filling with, and tribute to love, realization and acceptance of loss, and yearning will to go on. Hold on to this poem. It will serve you well through years to come. It's so wonderful to see you here.
