.. last night I was very sleepy from having been up since before five in the morning.. and so, I had just gone to close my eyes.. but then these words flew up to me.. way up here in my lonely writer's tower.. blueberry tea ramble

Sides are over rated, having a favourite flavor of ice cream is also overrated. how could you possibly choose between strawberry and chocolate their both so yummy in but different ways. Some people sit on fences, others recognize that that fences have gates, still other don’t even believe in fences or sides or even grass (I suppose they’re Buddhists)

He kind of gracefully swooned to the ground. He just liked all the attention he was getting from all the kings horses and all the kings men … I can tell you the king was not impressed that day. The imagery of Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty was a colloquial term used in fifteenth century England describing someone who was obese. This has given rise to various, but inaccurate, theories surrounding the identity of Humpty Dumpty. The image of Humpty Dumpty was made famous by the illustrations included in the 'Alice through the looking glass' novel by Lewis Carroll. However, Humpty Dumpty was not a person pilloried in the famous rhyme!

The History and Origins of the Rhyme

Humpty Dumpty was in fact believed to be a large cannon! It was used during the English Civil War (1642 - 1649) in the Siege of Colchester (13 Jun 1648 - 27 Aug 1648). Colchester was strongly fortified by the Royalists and was laid to siege by the Parliamentarians (Roundheads). In 1648 the town of Colchester was a walled town with a castle and several churches and was protected by the city wall. Standing immediately adjacent the city wall, was St Mary's Church. A huge cannon, colloquially called Humpty Dumpty, was strategically placed on the wall next to St Mary's Church. The historical events detailing the siege of Colchester are well documented - references to the cannon ( Humpty Dumpty) are as follows:

June 15th 1648 - St Mary's Church is fortified and a large cannon is placed on the roof which was fired by ‘One-Eyed Jack Thompson'

July 14th / July 15th 1648 - The Royalist fort within the walls at St Mary's church is blown to pieces and their main cannon battery (Humpty Dumpty) is destroyed.

August 28th 1648 - The Royalists lay down their arms, open the gates of Colchester and surrender to the Parliamentarians

A shot from a Parliamentary cannon succeeded in damaging the wall beneath Humpty Dumpty which caused the cannon to tumble to the ground. The Royalists, or Cavaliers, 'all the King's men' attempted to raise Humpty Dumpty on to another part of the wall. However, because the cannon, or Humpty Dumpty, was so heavy ' All the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put Humpty together again!' This had a drastic consequence for the Royalists as the strategically important town of Colchester fell to the Parliamentarians after a siege lasting eleven weeks. Earliest traceable publication 1810.

A Roundhead (Parliamentarian) was so called from the close-cropped hair of the Puritans

(uh, interesting choice of words).. now, let's see.. according to these instructions we just insert this 6-inch piece of fuse all the way into the vent hole and bend it at the top so that it's perpendicular to the hole (this is sounding a bit like The Future, actually).. this insures that a spark doesn’t pre-ignite the powder in the barrel (we don't want that to happen, now do we?).. now.. determine the correct amount of black powder to use based on the bore diameter of your cannon (chart below).. (where in hell is the chart???).. Oh, you can always use less! (it says).. A small amount of black powder (thimble full) produces a boom! Use only fg or ffg black powder. (Did you see that Lady K.?? ffg.. hmm).. so, just a small amount of powder, then, and..

Yawn... I've just come back from saving Andromeda A.K.A Princess Violet,from the Kraken in Krakow.Good job I caught on to Hennings evil plan! I must admit Pegasus is a fine specimen of a horse that can also fly and I never fell off him,not once! I need to teach Buckalot some better manners I think. The King's sword came in mighty handy to chop off the head of Medusa thank goodness for all the hard work that Kissy k put in polishing it! I didn't even need a shield as the sword shone so brightly I could see her coming on the pristine blade and voila off with her head! Actually,when she saw the size of the sword I think it mesmerized her,she sort of stood there with her hair hissing and writhing,someone should have recommended her a good hair conditioner if you ask me.

Well, Buckalot we have to have a practice session on this cannon in case of an attack from enemy forces,so let's see the instructions Boss left for us................hmmm...........how much gunpowder? study the chart..hmm..where's the chart? oh never mind I'll try a little bit.Hey! Buckalot why did you kick me? look what you made me do I've spillt all the gunpowder into the cannon thingy! Silly sausage, I don't prefer Pegasus you're the best horse in the world no need to be jealous!
Now then stand back I'm going to light the fuse and hope for the best,hooves on ears Buckalot!

I am glad you finally realised that Queen cate is not to be trusted…Her and Henning are definitely up to no good…They spend all that time in the dungeon and Henning only comes out after dark so nobody can see him…And it sounds like they’re building something down there…they seem to be banging night and day! …

And as for the queen trying to teach Henning to shoot further and harder…well don’t worry, she’d have to go along way to teach him to shoot as far or as hard as the King can…though it does help if he’s well rested…


Are you sure it's wise to try and teach kwi..er bond how to fire that big cannon...I have visions of the little bond person becoming the latest circus act...

And why is baby bond bon in confession (that sweet lickle thing couldn’t possibly have anything to confess!). No wonder I can’t find him! … Why didn’t anyone tell me we had a church? …I may pop into confession myself when I have a spare couple of weeks…and how come I’ve never seen a priest round here…what’s he been hiding from? …
